Is Ranking up on Empire, still bugged?

Im still stuck at "Squire", for the last month and im doing missions every day, and nothing happens... All kind of missions, different stations, systems, you name it... but no naval ascension mission.

Is this normal or is still bugged?

The common conception is that the entire ranking system is bugged to hell. No matter the faction.

I've been careful to do missions only to Imperial factions and I was recently promoted from knight to lord. So it is still possible to get promotions. Please note that naval ascension missions are not always available, even if the criteria is met.

That's faction reputation not rank which has been okay, but which seems to be only gained from missions at the moment. It used to include trading, and exploring also but I am doing a test this morning. Regular trader I am now on 2 mill profit this morning yet still the little red faction reputation down arrows are showing on both Fed and Empire factions. Not sure if this is a bug or a new design. If it is the latter it seems a bit one sided that only missioning will now affect reputation., as missioning isn't the only trade that helps a faction. Okay finally at 2.5 million trading profit the faction reputation has started to reverse. Climbing on Empire while steadying on Federation.

I do not know how the maths are applied on the faction reputation, but however it is, I see shortcomings. If it is calculated according to amount of trading it is unfair to smaller ships and more casual players. With it not changing until a pilot has completed a number of runs again it penalises casual players. Not everyone is retired like I am and can spend many hours in game due to family and work commitments. In fact I find the whole reputation and rank progression in a bit of a mess really. The only thing that seems to have been reasonably sorted out is the inclusion of the progression meters on personal reputation going from Mostly Harmless to Elite status in each of the three main trades

I can confirm that the rep arrows going crazy if you try to trade. I have my standart route, normally i get blue arrows, but currently it looks like it going full random. I never had that before. Every trade run result in different rep gain/loss

Normally, at what status or the "blue" bar of progression is filled up with the faction, is a naval ascension mission supposed to be available?

I have been stuck and Ensign/Allied with the Feds for months - done loads of missions all over the shop.

One bizarre kinda related thing that has happened, is that i am now "Friendly" with the Empire, even though I have done no missions for them and have shot up hundreds of Imperial ships over the last 2 weeks. I guess they enjoy a good thrashing

It is an it isn't. Last week I went from Serf to Earl over a week of intense mission grinding. Since Early it has been 4 days and no further progression even though I have followed the exact same gameplan during those days. The main bug is that several rank missions usually need to be completed to get the rank promised from doing just one. However faction relationship now seems to be bugging out like crazy on both major and minor since the last server patch.

I got to Master in Empire by doing missions over the past few days. Doesn't work as it should, but does work most of the time. Took on a mission to transport narcotics to another station for a promotion and never received the promotion. Took on a mission to retrieve some black boxes and it came through as promised. To even get Naval promotion missions you have to take on missions from multiple allied minor factions -- and that's ok. I just moved from system to system doing missions until suddenly Naval promotion missions started showing up.

If it's a delivery mission and the "give cargo" button is red. Have you made %100 sure you do not have excess cargo in your cargo bay of the type required by the mission>? Ie "give us 43 resonating seperators" and you have 100 in your cargo hold? If so make sure you sell everything else off only leaving the 43 required by the mission in your hold.

EDIT: or infact any other cargo at all other than the exact number of the item required by the mission.

Ok well it's working, took 4 marquis fetch delivery missions but the final one awarded the rank.

Just gonna keep doing the missions whenever you see it. On average it took like 2 to 3 missions in order to gain 1 rank.

No have had the exact amount in hold. I sold the 1st lot and when I went back to the mission, it was yellow, but could not connect to server. So I went back and got some more, still red. Tried logging out and back in again. I an not going for more of the same missions and I did that last time we had this issue and my rep went to hostile with multiple mission fails. I will wait until i am sure it is fixed. No rush, it is just a rank.
