Is "Road to Riches" dead now?

Is "Road to Riches" dead for Chapter 4?

The way they said all the discovered data you have is given when someone else has already scanned the system, so, does that mean Road to Riches is dead?

Just wondering, Thanks.

Confused about this too.

No. There is a first discovered bonus. You can still grind your way past the game all you want.

From what they said on the live stream, once you enter a new system that's already been discovered, you already have the data, so no 'first time' anymore? (first time 'for you', I should clarify.)

Thanks.

They still show as "unexplored", even when previously discovered, so I suppose Road to Riches is just fine. We'll have to see it, beta is soon.

They said that "if you entered into a system that was already scanned, you'll see every body in it but all bodies will appear to you as "unexplored", you can scan them to get the credits as usually". It was the very first thing they said.

But if we know where everything is and it'll all there in the analyzer mode, can we still scan it? Wasn't clear from their demo b/c they were showing an undiscovered system.

Oh I see, nevermind, I stand corrected.

it was a bit confusing. when they were talking about beagle's point all of the bodies were labeled as unexplored, suggesting you still needed to perform a scan which would net credits but not the first mapped / discovered bonus (and calling them out as bonuses suggests further that credits are still to be had).

plus the mention that 'honking', while only giving you visibility to the main star generates the same credit value as is today, minus seeing any of the other bodies in the system until a detailed scan is performed.

with that info it sounds to me as grind to riches is still an act of masochism one can inflict on themselves if desired.

Might speed up road to riches As the FSS doesn’t require you to fly to the relevant ELW to DSS them, so you can drop into system decide the ELW’s, DSs them and then jump on.

The fact that Adam said he fullyscanned a 100+ body system in less than 20 mins shows you it is faster.

I would say Road to Riches will become way easier, as you don't have to fly to the ELW, WW or HMC worlds anymore to scan them to get the money.

Seeing how fast you can scan individual objects, it will be Road to Riches on Steroids.

Very much this. By playing the radio tuner minigame, you get the former DSS results, only much faster. Time spent per system will be lower on average. Mapping is a different story, that takes a while, but gives more detail than we could get before. And if you just honk, you still get the same payout as you used to, but only the energy distribution reading, not the bodies. One thing that was completely left out on the livestream left me wondering though: What happens if you just fly towards an energy source without doing the minigame and survey it via eyeball MK I, will it stay unknown to your ship, even when in plain sight ?

If this is the case, this greatly disappoints me in that it makes exploration Elite even more meaningless.

I tested R2R for the first time with one of my alternate account recently and it took me only a week of part time playing to go from zero exploration ranks to elite.

This will make it doable in a part time weekend I guess.

I must admit that I'll be a little disappointed if the Road to Riches is still around in 3.3

With all the changes to exploration - including sharing system discoveries- I just don't see how FD could justify allowing people to claim credits for already discovered systems. Perhaps significantly reduce the payments offered for already discovered systems?

So what?

Let people become Elite in whatever they want quickly and easily, there will always be the ones who want this more than playing the game.
It's like when people complain about someone earning money in solo and then spending it in open, it doesn't matter. People will either be the type that plays the game to play the game or the type that wants everything yesterday and leaves if they can't get it or leaves when they get it.

Neither are a loss to the game.

Because it would suck big time for newcomers. The game is NEW to some players every day. How hard is it to comprehend that the playerbase is not static.
Not ranting at you specifically, but this comes up in every explo-thread. Demanding lower rewards is just a kick at newbies from someone who's already got their jollies.
Totally perspectiveless opinion.
First discovered bonus covers that.

No, it doesn't. So what if it takes longer for new people? By what standard is it "unfair"? It is a broken system, it got fixed. No different than any other exploit-y thing that got patched by Frontier over time. A new player wants easy money? There's still Robigo, that's not going anywhere.

It's like complaining that new players cannot enjoy Quince anymore.

I'm pretty sure that new players who value a consistent, rewarding, and meaningful gameplay loop would appreciate, not begrudge, the elimination of R2R.

Nope not dead at all :

(1) "Known" systems have all the bodies listed but each one is still "unscanned" exactly the same as current exploration post honk
(2) Road to riches money is made by detailed surface scanning ELWs etc, in the new system "known" systems are still unscanned

In fact it'll be more lucrative :

(1) It will take literally a few seconds to DSS scan the valuable body, no longer do you need to spend 5 minutes flying 10KLS to scan, it's going to be faster by orders of magnitude
(2) In addition to the scan you can also map, it's unknown what money you get for mapping but potentially more revenue right there

"Suck big time for newcomers"?

Not being funny but the earning level for newcomers is ridiculous.

You can get an Anaconda in a couple of weeks of casual play, a few days even if you put your mind to it.

Kick in the teeth for newbies if progression is slowed? You have to lol.
