With the new information provided by the crashed Anaconda "Proteus", I believe we might come a step closer to discovering the goals of "Salvation". Other people, myself included, believe "Salvation" is looking for a weapon of mass-destruction to use against the Thargoids. A new "Mycoid virus" as you may say, except not being a virus this time but a Guardian-made superweapon. If you haven't read the newly discovered Proteus ship-logs, I advice you to do so yourself or stop reading. Since there will be spoilers ahead.
"Salvation" is a self pro-claimed "man of science" but we don't know who he is and what exactly his goals are. However, for that last part we might be getting a step closer. "Salvation" wants us to discover something of scientific value. With the information provided in the ship logs of the "Proteus" we might be able to guess that that something is Guardian or Thargoid tech. The logs also claim the purpose of both the "Hesperus" and the "Adamastor" was to locate non-human technology and weaponise is. Here is what they say about that in the logs:
"I offered to take the crystal back, thinking the drones might come looking for it, but Dr Farrell already had her experiments ready to go. Weapons experiments.
She told me that was always the priority for both the Adamastor and the Hesperus. Locate non-human technology that could be developed for the military market. Azimuth wants to be the first corporation selling alien weaponry, which will make them bigger than Sirius."
It might be possible "Salvation" knows that and believes they found something, but that is just speculations. However multible things point to "Salvation" wanting to use whatever weapon the ship's crew found against the Thargoids. He popped up around the time Thargoids became more aggressive and the following message was decoded from a warning that Thargoids were attacking once again:
"React react react. That's all Aegis ever do. We need a solution!-- Salvation"
Whatever that ship found or what other crew members found, it will be a dangerous weapon. Let's hope "Salvation" know what he's doing and his intentions are good.
