Is space less black in 1.1?

I could be imagining this, but since 1.1 (today's the first time I've managed to play it) there seems to be more mottled, soupy stuff in space than there was before...

In this screenshot I'm about halfway between the North America and Pelican nebulas (shown) and the Cave nebula. I'm sure the backdrop was much darker before; the reddish cloudy stuff seems to extend out from the galactic plane a lot more than it used to.

Anyone else notice this?

Disclaimer: I like my space black, and may be more sensitive than most to non-blackness...

Squid ink is awesome, especially in pasta, but my vote has to go with saffron for perfect risotto , which is indeed a pillar of great cuisine.

But yeah, space does look different to me in 1.1. I thought the Milky Way was enlarged, seems like we are all a lot closer to the core.

Close to stars you get light pollution, fly away from the stars of the system to get a crisper sharper sky

Indeed when you are close to a star there's a type of hazing that fades away to black so you can see more surrounding stars as you fly away.

And as you get closer to the galactic centre there is more light and dust. Scroll through the galaxy map and you will see what almost looks like banks of cloud.
