Yes and No.
I have got a dedicated SSD miner, a
Python that I use occasionally for Tritium mining, it is the fastest way to mine Tritium in a Tritium Hotspot, I can fill it on a good run in less than 45 min, 160t + 10t.
I carry and use SSDM's on almost all of my miners, but due to ammo capacity, manoeuvrability and types of materials in the rocks I do not mine that much that way, but they are still worth fitting, they earn their keep.
The same applies to the Seismic Charge Launcher on my slower miners, I carry and use them but do not specifically go hunting Cores, but while laser mining I scan with the Pulse Wave Analyser every few rocks and if anything tasty appears, whether it be SSD or Core I mine it.
Trigger Setup. - I keep to roughly the same setup on all my miners and the easiest way I have found is this.
First fire group
Trigger 1 - Lasers and Collectors - saves time having to reselect collectors every time one goes pop
Trigger 2 - Prospector
Second fire group
Trigger 1 - Pulse Wave Analyser
Trigger 2 - Prospector - If anything glows you need to see why.
Third fire group
Trigger 1 - SSDM
Trigger 2 - Abrasion Blaster
Fourth fire group
Trigger 1 - Seismic Charge Launcher
Trigger 2 - Abrasion Blaster
All of my dedicated miner's are also fitted with 4A refinery's, Apart from the occasional speed run for Tritium I never go for a single material, that's the advantage of using a carrier (mining support ship) you can collect and accumulate for a later sale, I also hate having to throw away the leftovers from them cores, I use different miners for Icy and Metallic mining.
I have not been metallic mining since my last empty out but carrier cargo is viewable via link in sig.
