Is switching fire group still the only way to stop turrets firing without retracting weapons?

I have some turrets currently fitted on my Corvette. When I installed them a few weeks ago I double checked if their was a specific button to order them to open fire / cease fire, and I couldn't find it.

So to the best of my knowledge, switching fire groups is the only way to make a turret cease fire.

That's alright. I'll just set up identical fire groups. :)

Doesn't this depend on how you have them set up in Right hand panel, Far right tab?
If you set them to Fire at will then probably you need to switch fire-groups. (I have never had turrets set in this mode)

However if you have them to fire at Targeted Only, then if you deselect the "enemy" then they should stop firing. I'd need to get in a ship with turrets and test this but IIRC this should work

Switching target to something else (and then back) works too. I prefer the firegroup method though. Switching targets means that you lose track of the subsystem you had targeted.

By the way, V8UC ALICORN, I don't think creating two identical firegroups works. I think you must switch to a firegroup which does not include the turrets, for them to stop, then switch back again. But I have mapped that to a key, so in effect I have a stop key anyway.

Noted, thanks.
