Is targeting subtargets possible for the Fighter Pilot ?

Hello Cmdr's

did not try yet. If you target an enemy subtarget like engines and use an active fighter pilot and then you repeat the command
attack my target to the pilot. Does the fighter then also hit the subsystem like engines after the shields went down?

Does anyone know this? Thank You

I'd say they actually do.
I mean they target what you target.

Target a ship, order to attack, they comply. Order again - nothing, since they already attacking that target - part of the FD's fix against lag induced by spamming same attack command.
Target the PP, order to attack, they acknowledge, which means they got new target.
I use a SLF with fixed multicannons - and i can see how the target's PP get pounded.

On todays episode of 'Stuff you can test when you have multiple accounts':
Do NPC fighters target modules?

The test setup:
A npc fighter is orderer to 'attack my target' while a module is selected. We've choosen the right thruster of an Imperial Cutter, since this module is far away from the center of the ship, so accidental hits are unlikly.
The target will remain stationary, with the shield deactivated.
The SLF is a GU-97 Gelid F. One of the most agile ships in the galaxy, equiped with double beam lasers, the most precise weapon we could think of.
Piloting the SLF is Ramiro Mullins, elite ranked veteran with several years of combat experience.

The Result:
The Pilot goes straight for the 'center of mass'. Once the target in accquired, the fighter , just like the target, remains stationary and fires right in the middle of the target vessel without moving or straying of the center.
At the end of the test, 55% of hull was destroyed. No module damage whatsoever was inflicted.

No NPC deliberately engages a subsystem...not normal NPCs and not crew.

All of them target the center of the main target triangle as Hossi's image demonstrates. They do not always hit here, but this where they aim.

Whatever is hit is hit. Subsystems do not need to be targeted for them to be attacked. This is why some modules fail more often on some ships.

It's also worth mentioning that most SLF weapons have lowish breach chances and breach damage...so even with a CMDR pilot they are rarely ideal for sniping modules; they are much better than NPCs though.

Oh well, that means in my scenario (high CZ, targets were Alliance Chief/Chally/Crusader) the PP is right in the center and got shot accidentaly.

Anyway, if i rember next time when i'm in a CZ i will do the same test :)

OK thanks Cmdr's

I'm not sure about the different answers.

Fact is, when I switch to the fighter I can choose subtargets, as well as a friend in Multiplay could do, right?

So it is basically possible. If not already done, then maybe in a future patch of ED. I would really prefere more options for the fighter, as well as the possibility to have 2 fighters out in Combat. One with Computer and one with a friend.
