Is the Alien Base Accessible at the Launch of 2.3?

The Unknown Trailer has some kind of alien base and people found the location. So this should be free to explore as soon as 2.3 launches. Because we've already seen everything else during the lengthy beta phase.

There's two secret Megaships in the patch notes. I think one is the Dredger and the other a Thargoid megaship.

This is why we can't have nice things.

People moan about "lack of content" but the reality is that as soon as any new content is inserted into the game, people will relentlessly pursue it until it's done to death and then they'll revert to moaning about a lack of content.

I'd laugh my off if FDev had the flexibility to move the alien base to a different planet before 2.3 goes live. :p

Everything? So, the big surprises (things bigger than Multi-crew) are already known?

I missed that information, would you mind telling me what those things are/were?

Thanks.

Right, the advantage of emergent gameplay is players use tools to collaborate and create content together. Such as deep sandbox games like Eve Online, Ultima Online and Runescape.

Theme-park games are mostly dependent on content created by the developer. This costs a lot more time and money, because players burn through the content so the developer lags behind.

I think that's about the Unkown Trailer and that new content.

I can see no reason why the base site won't be accessible at launch, it's a shame it wasn't discovered by in-game methods, but hey ho never mind.

I've bookmarked the system and approx coordinates and will no doubt be out there poking at it with a stick when the content drops :)

Don't know anything about a Thargoid megaship though, but, somebody did mention one particular megaship has a tie-in with the upcoming book from Drew, "Premonition".

Mind you, I would suggest that the quality of any emergent content is highly dependent upon the quality of the playerbase. From what I've seen of emergent content, judgement of that quality is highly subjective - for example, you might think that Eve Online is a shining light for emergent content, but from what I've observed it's a cesspit of arrogance, bullying and ignorance. Neither position is representative of the whole playerbase though and I'd suggest the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. However, so-called emergent gameplay (which in my opinion is as relevant as modern 'reality tv'.....ie not very) might attract a certain type of player, but is found obnoxious by, I would argue, most others. IMHO.

Probably gonna stop by the store first to get nameplates and maybe a new suit, but this is the first place I´m going when 2.3 hits the live servers. Just hope we can drive into that corridor/cave thing

People moan about "lack of content" ...

Many people question the lack of additional gameplay, myself included, particularly for exploration/mining/pirates. I'd really like to see them deepen the foundations the same way they've given combat such attention.

Content wise the next update looks like a biggy.

Will it have black goo and things springing out of other things' stomachs?

Hopefully, "space hugger legs confirmed"!

I think people have forgotten about other large ships that have been mentioned in lore, lost for a period of time.......

I think the "alien base" is actually a crashed alien ship - you can see the ground pushed up where it's ploughed into the surface in the trailer.........

You're forgetting the, "Is that all?" comments.

I hope they do move the base. Only 17 or 18 thousand LY. Nothing major.
