Is the FSD module a SYS or an ENG? Do pips in Super Cruise even matter?

^ ^ ^ sorry for the use of so many elitist initials ^ ^ ^

THESE ARE SOME QUESTIONS I HAVE, COMIN' AT'CHA!!!

1. Could someone please tell me if the Frame Shift Drive is affected by putting pips into ENG or SYS with the Power Distributor?

2. If you put more pips into the FSD, does it affect the acceleration or speed of Super Cruise?

3. If your turn off the Power Distributor...
- does it affect the acceleration or speed of Supercruise?
- can you even Super Cruise?
- does it affect other SC modules such as the fuel scoop?

4. Speaking of the Fuel Scoop... Is it affected by putting pips into SYS or shutting off the Power Distributor?

Thanks in advance, you bunch of smartos.

pips do not effect sc . never turn off your power distributor . obviously fuel scoop is not affected by pips as you can only scoop in sc .

1. Nope.
2. You put points into engines, which causes your power distributor to make more energy available to your thrusters. It's not related ot the FSD.
3. I've never done that...but I don't see why you couldn't supercruise or scoop fuel. You might just be stuck at the default "2 pips in everything" until you get a distributor again.
4. No.

As far as I'm aware:

1. No
2. No
3. Never tried, was worried that everything would shut down! :)
4. No

IMO, it'd be more interesting if more modules were affected by the power coupling - if you could boost supercruise acceleration / speed etc. it'd really help with avoiding interdiction - or interdicting! Ultimately if everyone put 4 pips to Engines, it'd all even out in the end anyway.

I turn off my power distributor all the time during exploration. All it does is prevent you from changing your pip assignments, but if you know that you use 3 in wep forever, and you never, ever change that, then go ahead and turn it off after you've set it. It will remember that setting until you turn it back on to change the pips.

And pip assignments have no noticeable affect in SC. Obviously if you set pips before SC, then you'll have that same setup after you exit, which is why I always set it before jumping in case I get interdicted in my target system.

Nothing wrong with turning off the distributor. In fact it is a good idea to turn it off when exploring, Once you have set up the pips you can turn it off to save heat/power

I agree. This could very well happen in the future. It would be a cool and interesting addition, in my opinion.
