I presume this is about the Fleet Carrier Owners Club not running any FC back from Colonia this week? I feel ya bud, hopefully next week!
OH NOES, whatever will I do? How will I get to Colonia?

I am currently sat on a carrier waiting to go to Rackham's Peak (details in the Fleet Carrier's Owner's Club discord)
After I've ticked that system off my to-do list, I'm going to Colonia.
If there isn't a carrier going there, I'll go there myself the old-fashioned way ... one jump at a time.

It's not quite dead but ever since the release of odyssey it's been on the brink of death kept barely alive by regular patches and updates over the past few years that have not quite managed to nurse it back to health.

It's still unclear if/when the life support will be yanked or scaled back further and what will happen (to the community) after that. There's been no official communication on long term plans and nothing reassuring to draw from elsewhere either.

Even if things continue as they are there'll be enough community inertia for the game to keep going for at least a few more years before the player counts start to dwindle enough for it to be a real problem for doing multiplayer/community stuff, the game can be played mostly solo, but it's conceivable more community sites/tools go offline and the experience will degrade over time. Even then it'll never really die as there's communities for older games that were way less popular for way less time than Elite in it's various incarnations.

I think the proper way to phrase it would be to ask "Is Elite on the decline overall" and the answer to that is that yes it is and it has been for a few years and there's no indication of the trend reversing.

Who said Anything about FC ?
I'm talking about the game in general.
There's no more group things.

You really think FDEV employees want to sit in the office over Christmas/New year just so you can get your Community Goal hit? No, they are there for emergencies only, I am sure we will have more CG's soon, but we never get a lot over Christmas/New Year.

Alternatively on the glass half full side of things, the game is very much alive and well, plenty to do, exploration, mining and the continuing Thargoid narrative.
Hunting for Raxxla, searching for new guardian sites and the stuff out there still to be discovered.
There is literally thousands of hours of gameplay left even in its current state, which for some of us is very healthy,

but we never get a lot over Christmas/New Year.
... There actually was one nice event: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/christmas-event-not-a-cg.621920/ (it would be nice have this type of "events" for longer time like christmas/New Year period)

Where is everyone at ?
What happen to all the Fun things in the Game ?

... they need to finish first with staff reduction and set close/distatnt goals etc. before we can get any news. For now we have only info from their financial report where was mentioned still ongoing support for ED and change of plans for games type which they will want to focus.

and beside it: I right now ended one shorter gaming session with fulfilling two odyssey missions: game seems is overall working very well and stable. This imo should be theirs main close focus to clearing game code and repair bugs. I hope they will look on missions templates and correct some of issues which arer still present in the game.

There still is numerous fun in the game, it however need player involvement and own decision/goal(s) at this time :) ...

OP: as long as you can connect to a server and therefore start it, the game is not dead. As for community interaction, events and stuff: there was a significantly long time-period where FDev even forgot about GalNet to a point where the launcher had rendering troubles with the completely void and empty news list. THAT felt like a dead game. But one month of radio-silence? That's pretty normal for FDev, especially if they are busy with themselves.

FWIW, I took the neutron star highway out to Colonia last night. It's kind of boring to do so many jumps one after another, but the cone diving does make it more fun. I guess in the end it was about 130 jumps and I didn't see a single soul.. :)

The plan was to unlock all the engineers out here and then go back. But seeing I'm out here now, I'll probably go visit the Nameless and kill some SECD staff..
