Is the game ready for release?

So I did the training missions ok. But between leaving the starting station and trying to get to Dayan Gateway (about an hours game time) I've had one instance where not maintain escape trajectory and dropping out caused a crash where everything froze except for clock etc. And now 3 crash to desktop / report problem screens.. in an hour?

Is this just me?

I just docked at the station orbiting the earth-like planet in Eravate. Went into the hangar, selected StarPort Services. Game crashed. So, no, game crashes not just you. :)

Yeah I've had some of these now, it seems to be when entering super cruise.. sometimes it just never gets into it and if left long enough get a network connection issue.

The crashes though that lead to Sony reporting.. bit frequent for my liking. I don't even know how to report them as if I load back up it works fine the next time, or do Frontier just gets those crash reports and deal with them themselves?

I have done that many times!

I'd hoped once the game came out and people actually had something to do, these kinds of completely off topic forum spam posts would go away (which is why I never signed up until launch). Guess not.

So do Frontier want to hear about these crashes in some constructive way or is it not necessary with the Sony reporting function? It's not replicatable so doesn't seem like a bug report is suitable. Thanks.

Crash reports don't go to Sony. They go to FDEV, along with video, if you select it (yes, you should select that). Always make sure you're uploading the crash incidents, especially right now. It's part of the crash process, just select Submit.

No need to file a bug report. Using the crash report that comes up on the console is essentially the same thing, arguably better since you can include a video of the crash.

I think i might have had the crash when going into supercruise, however i restarted the game before it could boot me. Only once, and was last night around 11pm mst(-7gmt). At work currently, so not sure if anything is different between last night and today. Otherwise, nearly 2 hours last night and outside of a few very slightly laggy/choppy moments, it was mostly about as good or maybe ever slightly worse than the xbox one version.

I'm using wifi on my ps4, and was in open so that could have contributed. I'll have to try it hard wired and see if that makes a difference. Didn't play in solo yet, so I'm unsure if that would make a difference.

What are you talking about?

New players often press the "boost button" in place of the "lower landing gear" button and my confirmation of the previous posters experience IS on topic.

I almost think you quoted the wrong person...

It gets released quite regularly, often the previous release is ready by then.

Just as a follow up, I played much of the day being as I'm off work this week and after those initial crashes and some connection issues this afternoon, its been generally rock solid. No idea what was going on to start with but it seems rectified now.

I have been quite enjoying myself :)

This was a thread about game / PS4 crashes, not crashing your ship in game. Not that i must spell it out for either of you, I did not miss quote you.

If you have nothing to add to a discussion that is on topic, that is fine! You do not have to post pointless off topic one liners cluttering up every thread with chit chat.. it's fine to just move along or start another thread you know!

Crashes often happen when there are a lot of CMDRs around, or when a new version launches. Hopefully it will settle down now PS4 has launched, though it's still variable on the PC depending on (presumaby) network connectivity. Expect additional errors around things like CGs (community goals - probably Thursday) where CMDRs are all in one system.

It's a joke, get used to it. There are lots of them out in the world.
