Is the iClipper any use at cargo-scooping?

I'm thinking of building a ship for industrial-scale mat' collection.

I've got an Annie sitting around doing nothing but it'll end up being a big job to outfit it and, y'know, it's nice to diversify.

I know the iClipper has a decent jump-range, it's got enough slots for cargo/limpets, collectors and an SRV, it does okay in combat and it's ideal for running away.
The only thing I don't know about it is whether it's any use at manually scooping, for the times when you're out of limpets and that one final HGE has a heap of good stuff.

So, is the iClipper a good choice for this role, should I just go all-out and use the Annie or is there another alternative that I've ignored?

I think I've used the Clipper once for mat hunting, normally use an Asp X, I don't remember any noticeable problems with it for manual scooping - I never use limpets.

It had an issue early in its life which was fixed. I have scooped many times in my Clipper but not in 3.0. I doubt it has changed so scoop away !

The Clipper has no problems with scooping stuff... remember you can also synthesize a few more limpets when you ran out :)

Just synth some limpets when you're out.

I'd take the hit on the mats rather than scoop manually.

That's what I use for mat collection.

Fitted a 0A long range wake scanner (maneouvrable enough to sit still and scan upto 7km away) & wide range sensors for ship scanning

7e cargo rack, 6c fuel scoop, 4g planetary hangar, 2 x 3b collector limpets, ADS/DSS and either a docking computer or small fuel tank to suit

Works well. Even fully laden with limpets, still get between 25 and 30LY

On that note, I've found that a G1 range-increase to a wake-scanner is enough that you can definitely just park in the "sweet spot" at distribution centres and scan everything without ever moving.

If you really want to make a dull task even duller, of course. :p

Other than that, thanks for the confirmation. [up]

Need to go and get my iClipper back from Tionisla tonight and start working on it.
