is the imperial clipper any good for fighting ?

Recommend you also save up for some proper weapons and Upgrades for the Clipper. It's absolutely deadly in combat (check out the Imperial Clipper discussions for ideas on weapon loadout :) (

its super fun, ist super deadly. But if a npc crashes in your clipper, your wallet will cry a lot
With any class 6 or 7 shield you can safely ram vipers and occasionally cobras.

I remember frontal collision with a viper in my ASP with D5 shields: he exploded instantly, I paid 2 shield rings for that

Military composite hull with A7 shields, and pretty much A everything else with 2 C3 beam lasers and 2 multicannons and you are bloody invincible I tell you. With a speed of 440 boost nothing catches you.

Everything (all ships) except the Drop ship and bigger cook off in seconds. Big ships rarely last past 30 seconds and if you get behind an Anaconda it's game over for the Conda in minutes.

For the price she's unbeatable.

Currently at a "tighter budget" (around 80 mill) :) so I run with A6 Thrusters, B6 Shields, B6 Power Plant, Reinforced Bulkheads, rest is pretty much A. I really enjoy the awesome speed of this craft so therefore A6 Thrusters and not Shields or PP (If I need more power like for Missile Launchers etc. I usually downgrade utility items or shut off cargo hatch or something)

2x C3 Burst Lasers and 2x C2 Multicannons for general fighting. For Elite Anaconda missions I use 2x C2 Missile Launchers (Dumbfire) instead of the multicannons. Then I throw in a B4 SCB or two (one is enough, one for backup / or when planning to stay at nav beacons for awhile)

Contradictory to "everything" I read back when I was a Cobra/Asp pilot the Clipper is actually quite good for combat. The downside however is the hull repair cost when accidents occur, like ramming into an Elite 'conda at full speed (28% hull, and 770k repair cost, Oh well, full insurance would've been 2,6m so I guess I shouldn't complain about that one :))

I don't know if they are still in the game but if anyone sees any High Impact C2 Multicannons I would very happy to obtain those.

Are the Class 7 shields worth it? I thought I saw on a reddit post that a low rank Class 7 shield is as good as a A6 shields.

Call me when you get a Python. 30% hull dmg = 550k repairs.

And I got rammed to death by a player ASP. I had full A6 shields, 4 pips to sys, A7 pwr distributor. 6mil gone, poof. Why a ship with lower hull mass can one shot me through full shields, I have no idea. Hope its fixed.

i have done a fair bit of experimentation on this. i set aside a few million credits to practice station suicide ramming on some people.

the clipper absolutely needs a class 7C or higher shield to have any chance of surviving an impact with a cobra. cobras are apparently constructed entirely of adamantium and mythril, and a clipper's body frame is only made of lightly glued construction paper.

the class 6 shield got me killed in a rather low speed collision with a cobra at a docking bay. wasn't even trying to ram this guy.
when practicing with the class 7 i noticed that any collision in my clipper with a cobra or larger that would kill that ship, would also kill me. one time, i managed to get a successful, full-shields ramming death while maintaining 2% hull left myself. if there is a margin of error for ramming stuff with a clipper, its got to be very, very small.

0/10 i would not recommend ever using your clipper for ramming.
