Is the initial choice important if just building a T1 orbital?

Wondering which choices have caused what in newly colonised systems, in terms of credits, planning and general ambiance. Any one regretted their initial choice? I’ll be mostly on my own so T1 is for me, just to secure the system.

Am thinking commercial is a good place to start and backing with agricultural and mining planetary medium builds and hopefully one day a T2 star Port.

Unfortunately despite the fleet carrier especially bought I’ve not been able to claim my system yet and hope that I may be able to do so. When those Brewer community goal ships turn up who knows which regions will offer themselves?

I wouldn't think it matters all that much, especially in a larger system (I personally picked the Industrial one, which was definitely the right choice for me)

If you build a Commercial, Civilian or Criminal T1, then it should eventually pick up an economy type from whatever it ends up orbiting as you build further. So if your initial construction site (the flag icon) is the only slot around a non-landable planet, you might want to go for one of the ones which comes with its own economy already, whereas if it ends up orbiting a nice landable HMC with five surface slots, you get more flexiibility later by picking one of the Colony types.

I colonized a system with only 2 surface slots. It was in the initial rush. It will never have a big population.
Make sure to have alot of planets with 0/5 0/3 etc slots available.

It could be interesting if industrial/high tech outposts could cover the meager colonisation requierements of those commodity categories, but atleast at my industrial outpost theres absolutely not enough computer components or water purifiers to build anything, althought market data is sorta old and gotta check once i return home after this thaurgsday in a while.

They might be enough once a system has more pops/is developed enough, but by then theyre not that more useful. It does really seem like outposts by themselves really are not enough for much beyond staking a claim in a system.

You can't build an entire construction just from the stock in the market itself - but it will refill over time, so you can bring what's there for a quick break between hauling metals and probably finish at about the same time.

Once your mission board is online it's also a nice source for commodity rewards, which finally have a bit more of a use: got all the Survival Equipment I needed that way without needing to make a side trip.

(The market sizes of outposts - indeed, all station types including the bigger ones! - are also surprisingly low given the system population they add, so maybe there's a way to improve their production later)
