Is the keelback viable now?

If 2.1 is anything to go by I won't be able to take out an NPC Keelback anyway. I totally kicked a canisters ass today though. It was packing rare artwork too.

Oh. I show no mercy. Hit some canisters with my courier at 600m/s after accidentally boosting into them. I showed them. It's illegal salvage, anyway. I'm just doing my part.

Keelback...?

What keelback?

*Chuckles in the background*

But, the thrusters move!

Sigh

Is the keelback viable now that the npc's are better at combat?

Honestly, it probably makes a bit more sense than say a type 6 simply because of the extra weapons it carries. But that is only if you want to fight off some very small annoyances such as sideys or adders.

It still hasn't found its real role and that is disappointing, I mean if only those thrusters could be used for something, talk about the boost!

It's always been viable. Optimal? Nah. Best return on investment? Nope. Good at combat? No, not really. But you can now, just as before, get by with it and turn a profit. Wouldn't hurt for them to cut the buy-in by a million or so credits. It's three times the price of a Type 6, but you're not getting three times the ship.

They should have put the medium mounts on top so they can fire backward/over the shoulder at pursuing ships. :/

[Edit]

And maybe one extra C1 internal.

Tried it out but it's still as much of a flying coffin as the T6. I loved the idea of it but it's useless in a fight cuz it has very little agility.

LOL, no. That leaves you with an awful ship that can't carry anything but an awful fighter.

Bingo. It's not like you're going to be launching an FDL out of a Keelback.

"Oh no! I thought I'd get an easy kill on that Keelback, but the CMDR launched a Battle Sidewinder!" said no CMDR ever.

The name KeelBack makes it sound like it has a specific role.
I just can't think what that role is.

Keelhaul was a nautical punishment where you tied a rope around someone, threw them overboard and dragged them along the barnacle encrusted side of your ship.

Maybe the KB will find a job with the aliens?
