Engineers Is the New AI too Hard? - Sidewinder to HazRES (VIDEO)

More tests are needed with my MK IV Cobra. My shields go down almost instantly when interdicted. I use flight assist, and I don't believe you do. I never got the hang of it outside of making smuggling runs at a station. Either you are using Track IR, or VR, because I noticed in the video, your head was looking up and to the left or right in canopy the entire time. Making it easier for you to stay on target. I can only do so much with my X52 and thrust master, with head look. My machine really isn't the best for recording video. Games chug too much. So I'll simply report back with screenshots or a description while in side winder.

I mostly use flight assist. I can't go 100% FA Off I'll crash into everything and fly like a drunken Scotchman

ED Tracker actually.

I can only do so much with my X52 and thrust master

If you're ever looking for a new or better set up I'm using CH Products Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals, & Fighterstick. Also keep an eye on Thrustmaster they are supposed to be releasing a stand alone throttle soon.

So I'll simply report back with screenshots or a description while in side winder.

Looking forward to it.

Though i agree the AI needed updating it really seems to have gone to far the other way it is now really a slog to kill smaller ships in anything bigger than a python.

Try a larger ships.

Well I would have had that python (unless i ran out of oxygen) had I not run out of ammo.

Try versus a wing, which is 70% of what you find in HAZres.

I ran into a wing of 5 ships in a vulture at a Threat Level 4 USS before I had decided to make this video. I had zero issues.

No. I mean you in a larger ship.

Well.
Great you had zero issues. But you cant measure everyone else by your apparent easiness at doing this, the rest is not you.

I do like the extra challenge the game is offering me, and yes it is a challenge for me.
Oh well, I just hope the challenge does not become frustration. Which is what is becoming for a lot of people.

That seems to be the argument by the "too hard crowd"
They had a bad outcome and thus it is All too hard for everyone

Alright, so I totally understand the video. I normally fly an FAS for Bounty Hunting...even prior to 2.1 launch. Though before that, to make fights fun and interesting, I flew in an Imperial Courier in HazRez's. Now that 2.1 is live I have no problems finding a fun fight in my FAS...and I have NO Engineer Mods on my FAS yet. Alone today, I've made almost 4mil in bounties within an hour in a HazRez. I went back to station with 22% hull and a damaged (not broken) canopy, but I consider that a damn good time.

Prior to 2.1 I was getting bored with the AI bounty hunting in my FAS. Now that I'm not nuking them damn near instantly and having to actually fight tooth and nail with it, the bounties I get are that much more rewarding. Perhaps not in a monetary sense, but you may have just taken down an Elite Anaconda solo after melting his two Cobra III wingmates. Don't expect the game to pander to you, use the AI against itself.

If you're fighting a wing. Melt the shield of the wingmate (one or two) and focus on the more dangerous of the ships. Once it's shields are down, the other one, or two, should be returning. Repeat. It's target management and tactical flight combat.

If Elite's kicking your ***, practice. If you don't have enough for muiltiple rebuys on your higher price ship...get a cheaper one and adapt to the new AI before trying to take it on in a 100mil+ ship that you have 100% dependence on it's Alpha damage with all it's weapons.

Okay so experiment so far, is I am interdicted I almost will die. I could not get behind a vulture as my MK4. Reversing, FA off, none of it worked. I'm sitting at 3% health running back to Archambault port in the DYR system. I was looking for Salvage stuff for mission.

The NPC's have just top gunned!!

Just upgraded last night, was delivering 288 tons of water purifiers for the CG in the Ani, was interdicted by a lone FGS - my shields lasted approx 60secs, my thrusters were gone 5 seconds later, FD immediately after that with a canopy breach, and within another minute I was ejected - I mean make them a bit smarted, but hell 11 million credits gone half an hour into the 'upgrade'.

Love it, I'd love to fly with you sometime. A buddy and I have our own discord server if you'd like me to PM it to you.

It seems as though different people are having different experiences. But from my first two forays into a Haz Res I would say being pledged to a power is some of the issue because there are powerplay agents constantly attacking you out of the blue. So unlike the OP who was in an anarchy system and choosing his targets at will, as soon as I entered I got attacked by 3 powerplay agents high on mods.

Another factor might be that it is more advantageous to fly smaller highly manoeuvrable ships now than bigger less agile ones, because you can avoid weapon fire, or to be more specific - modded weapon fire. The haz res npcs seemed all kitted out with mods, and the AI was like another good player who never makes mistakes regardless of their rank. I haven't done too much combat yet in 2.1 live, but the AI does seem a lot harder than the last last beta patch, but that could be because I had a fully modded ship in beta, which may indicate that the npcs have been been balanced to assume that the player has a lot of mods already. Of course 2.1 just went live so that isn't the case.

Awesome Thread Captain Hooch, i appreciate someone taking the time to record and prove that some pilots are just incompetant.
This whole AI is too diffucult... is plain rubbish and this you have proven, its more than likely that many pilots secured the most advanced ships... without learning to fly the simple ones, and doing basic manuovres..

If its not the AI its the Griefers, and hopefully FDEV's will not panda to the Crybabies out there

The only problem I've seen with the new NPCs is that there has been a bug floating around where some ships suddenly become god-like. Like that video that's floating around about the guy in the Python at 100% Hull and Shields being melted by a vulture in 2 seconds. That's Impossible and obviously a bug.

But as far as the A.I.'s ability to fly and shoot goes its amazing now and I love it, its almost like going up against a skilled player now.
