Is the night less dark?!

Okay, I really have no plausible explanation for this, yet I am very sure that I am not wrong about it:

Last week I started building a Pirates of the Caribbean dark ride and I just opted for setting the time to 10:00 pm instead of placing it entirely underground (water then looks so awful! btw, this is really annoying when you want to build such a ride in a regular day/night park...).

When I wanted to continue today, however, everything was simply less dark! Sections of the ride which had previously been pitch black are now clearly visible!
Needless to say: this is impossible to work with!
I mean, I was okay with the general "work around" of placing an entire ride underground (apart from the water aspect, of course), but when you're trying to build a dark ride in an all-night-park and it's not dark... well, you see where I'm going with this...

Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I doing something wrong?!

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Because I have to admit, I actually looked forward to playing again, but now... not so much...

Here you go:

Originally you wouldn't be able to see the back rows of trees.

Here, the boats would enter into full darkness!

Actually areas that don't have lights in them were much darker. Now everything seems to me way brighter.

This might seem minor, but it really does make a difference!
Especially if you consider the fact that you only want those parts of your ride to be visible where you place lamps or lights of some sort.

everything looks normal to me

You're most likely right: I just checked the Forums on my phone and the same screenshots there look just the way they are supposed to!

When I open them on my computer, though, they are much lighter! I guess that must mean that the problem is not with the game itself but just my computer/screen/settings... The thing is: I haven't changed anything since I last played

Well, I'll figure it out!

Thanks to you guys for looking at my problem, anyway [happy] in a way, posting it on the forums and taking the screenshots did solve it/help me with it!

I've had this happen with my monitor before. Every once in a blue moon it will revert back to default settings(which is a lot brighter) but after a bit it *pops* back to where I had it.

You could try turning the gamma down in the game to see if that helps.

Luckily, everything was back to normal when I started playing today without having to change anything (gamma settings or drivers)! But in case it happens again, I'll keep your suggestions and ideas in mind! [happy]

Thanks so much for your advice - it's great to see that people like you are trying to help me out!

Now I can at least keep building my ride in an all-night-park again! I have to admit, though: I would just love it if I could simply build dark rides featuring bodies of water in a regular day/night park and place them underground. But the water just does not look right then which is so unfortunate...

If you want better blacks, you could also invest in an OLED display. Yes they're a lot more expensive. My Samsung S8 phone has an OLED display. When I watch videos on it, the black looks 100% pure. And the colours way more richer too.

Another problem could be that you have reset the Gamma option, which makes things darker/brighter. Make sure to check that :)
