Is the pre engineered surface scanner better than a normal grade 5 engineered one?

Since some time there's an already engineered surface scanner V1 you can unlock at human technology brokers. My question is: is it better than a normal one that you engineer at full grade 5? Or if you unlock it and then fully engineer it will it be better?

Thanks for the help, I couldn't find a clear answer online..

Yes it has a wider scanning area than a level 5 engineered scanner.

A question that I had not got around to asking:)

Looks like it might be worth upgrading some of those fitted to my fleet when I get back to the bubble.

I have been using DSS-V1 for a long time. Received as a gift at CG. A very nice device. For example, a body that required 10 probes (seen at the bottom right) was scanned in 3 steps. But something changed a few months ago. Now in 3 steps I can scan only 6-probe bodies.😩

It was bonkers for awhile (normally efficiency target 6 body was 10 or more etc.), now it is back to normal.

Thanks everyone for the help. So I get it that you unlock it, and just use it without engineerring it any further (I think if you do it destroys the extra effect)..
