Is the prismatic shield any good for a combat Python?

As per the title description... Since it doesn't seem like any of the ship-building tools available online take the new modules into account, I was wondering if this component is worth it on a combat-oriented Python. Seems like you could fit an Anacoda-sized shield into it then, which in theory should be awesome (especially since the Python has a really powerful power-plant).

The reason I'm asking is because the ED Wiki states that the shield is of limited use to combat ships, due to increased mass and power consumption. I can see why the increased power usage might be an issue on a Vulture or FDS (pure combat ships that they are, they tend to have less powerful power-plants). But the Python is in that unique "all-rounder" position, where it seems it won't have any issues with power. So this leaves only mass?

On a side note: doesn't it seem like this particular faction-specific module comes with far better "good things to bad things" ratio, no?

From what I gather, the real benefit is putting a smaller sized prismatic shield in, still having slightly more strength than the larger shield, but freeing up the higher module slot. I.e., put a class 5 prismatic in your python and still have slightly more strength than the 6, but free up the size 6 slot...something like that :)
PS Multiply by 1.2, not add!

Any bonus to shields on a ship that has lots of power to play with is good, the Asp, Python and Anaconda would be in that line i would think.

(...)still having slightly more strength than the larger shield(...)

Wait, what?

I thought it's like getting an A-rated bigger class shield... If you put in a C5, won't that "just" free up a C6 slot, without any actual shield strength benefits?

Why not, a boost to the base shields, made all the better for each booster you have.
I think the wiki meant dedicated combat ships like the ones you mentioned, the Python is still technically a multipurpose.
With the Pythons ample power supply the PSG should be a pretty decent option, I don't own a python but it seems quite clear to me.

I was also looking at this.
It's an extra 40T, which will affect your jump range but not too much as a combat Python is already around 700T. It takes just under an extra 2.2MW of power. So basically if you have the best power plant and have 2.2MW of power to spare, you can get the affect of a Class 7 shield on your Python. This to me seems really powerful.
I was messing around with edShipyard and I think if I drop sensors and KWS to a lower class I can squeeze it in.

this is the build I'm looking at
