Is the “social” panel functional?

Off and in elite since release, never was good been trying to give it a serious shot this time around and managed to make some progress. Would love to join a squadron or meet people online and learn or assist/get assisted.
I look for mentors a lot on the social panel, best i got was a failed loading screen. Is the game dead on PS? Or am I too low leveled to matchmake?

PS version of Elite ingame still uses PSN messaging for every thing.so you need their PSN name... and they need to have message system enabled...
If they block randoms you get no answer... the social page on the main menu is just the PS friends list..
IF you mean the multi crew thats Randoms that have to want to play with other randoms... Its not insured to be any one that wants to do that every hour of the day...
