Aye I think those that praise the saitek sticks just don't have any experience with a higher quality hotas and as such, it's kind of like using cheap dollar store headphones and claiming they great...and then years later you use a nice pair of studio headphones and are like what in hell was I thinking?...this studio quality headset is leagues better!
Not
everyone praising them lacks experience, SD.

I've got a shelf full of joysticks, throttles and game controllers, most of them higher end peripherals. Saitek are well represented in my collection. The notion that Saitek are somehow inferior to their competition is a popular one, but it's not particularly fair or accurate. At each price point they provide/have provided options that are at least as good as the competition. They're enormously successful for good reasons.
I'm not saying their kit doesn't break, or that it's the best option for everyone. But by the same token, other manufacturers kit wears out as well!
The recent buyout by Logitech should see better quality control than they had while Mad Catz owned the brand. The two companies have a completely different outlook- Mad Catz pride themselves on innovation, Logitech are more focused on quality and reliability.
With improved quality and reliability the decision on whether to buy comes down to cost and the utility of the controller for whatever the buyer wants to use it for.
If the price and the features of the X-52 appeal to you EvilDog, I definitely think now is a great time to buy one. Buy it directly from Logitech to make sure you get the new version.
