Is there a daily limit one Cmdr can accomplish?

I notice sometimes if I do 40 missions it has the same bgs progress as if I do 20 missions. Is there a daily limit each Cmdr can influence the bgs?

Also yes.

... and it takes more effort to increase the higher influence factions than the lower influence factions (just due to the way it adds up the daily influence effects and then has to make them all add up to 100% again).
Also, the higher the system population the less effect each mission (or other BGS influencing actions) has, so more effort needed in high population systems. In a low population system you can hit the limit with very little effort.

Note that the limit is a per-system-faction one, not a per-CMDR one. You don't get to have twice as much effect just because you do half the work with an alt.

The shape of the activity-influence curves as shown in the recent livestream also means that you can probably never get the maximum possible influence gain in a system no matter how much you do - but doing a much smaller amount will get you 99% of the way there and at that point you may as well do something else.

There's also a strong implication from the livestream that the curves are per-activity, so 1 hour of trading + 1 hour of bounties + 1 hour of exploration is probbaly going to do better than 3 hours of trading would, all else equal - but that's not certain.

(Oh, and it works differently in wars and elections)

Yep, it works the same i.e. when selling Exploration Data.

If you were i.e. to hold a large Exploration Trip (like 1 Billion Credits worth, many hundreds of Systems) and sell it all at once, the Daily raw +Inf Cap within the System for the Faction would easily be reached - but at the same most of the "BGS Firepower" would be wasted into the Daily cap.

Selling i.e. 50M contained in 50-100 Systems per Day (Low Pop, ~1M or less) and repeating that every Day would be the smarter choice to persistently reach that Cap on a daily basis without wasting too much.
(Data Value counts but a high amount if Systems (= Inputs) is far more paramount and effective)

Due to the nature and limitations of the raw +Inf Inputs, any attempt to reach the +Inf cap is very vulnerable to competing other Inputs and the BGS Inf Normalization process.
The decreasing effectiveness and uphill battle when supporting high-Inf Factions has already been mentioned.

btw. for a tiny Pop System (100k or less), something like +4.5% seems about as good as it gets and only ever can be obtained if no competing Inputs were made for other Factions.
About +4.0% for 500k-1M Pop and reaching 5-10M Pop, we're quickly looking at roughly +3.5% Caps.

AFAIK the only way to break those Caps (apparent) is to actively hurt the Influence of other competing Factions, which adds any BGS normalization Bonus onto any direct +Inf gains for the supported Faction.

PS.
All in all, it's quite important now to benchmark worked Systems (evaluate via stochastic/empirical means the typical upward/downward pressures during average BGS cycles) in order to get a feeling how much effort is really still effective and where the point is reached at which all additional (same-type) effort becomes wasted. Effort then better invested into other means to support the Faction - or work another System if that's a factor.

So there is not really a point to have two accounts and divide your efforts between them rather than doing it all with one?

There's also a strong implication from the livestream that the curves are per-activity, so 1 hour of trading + 1 hour of bounties + 1 hour of exploration is probbaly going to do better than 3 hours of trading would, all else equal - but that's not certain.
Does each activity have its own ceiling, or is the per-day limit for %inf regardless of activity or combination thereof? In other words, can I triple the amount of positive effect I have on a faction by doing these three different things, or does this just allow me to hit my limit in a third of the time?

according to our data 20 mission +++ will get you about 22% of the system cap, and 40 will get you 27%

and extrapolating, 1000 would get you 50%, but only bots can manage that

What's the sweet spot? As in, the number of missions where you get the most inf per mission before the returns diminish?
