Newcomer / Intro Is there a demo?

As much as I want to buy the game, I want to make sure it will run on my computer. Is there a demo I can try to test? There is nothing worse than buying a game you can't play and can't return.

Nope, at least none that I know of.
But you could post your specs and we make (maybe even educated) guesses ;)
Elite is relatively light in its requirements. My computer really starts to show its age
when it comes to current games but Elite runs nicely with medium settings without
the machine breaking much sweat

edit, as in:

i5 @ 2.8
gt 545
8gb

^ this works well enough in my screen's native resolution (1680x1050) with overall medium settings.
However, I will also say that I very much feel like upgrading the GPU.

They really should make the training part of the game a demo, it would give people the ability to play around and get an idea of what they are getting into.
