It seems to me, that on a practical level, the "future of RCT" has been left to the custom scenery and ride builders...
I think that the game designers might want to take a closer look at RCT-3 for a start, things can be learned there...
Take the "coaster designer" function.. it's unnecessary... a player can simply make a scenario of their own for it, same with the "building designer".
How about the lights that flash when placed too close together and other funky effects like some lights cancelling each other out?
Did the programmers never follow through to see this happen?
There are lights that don't blink made by custom scenery designers, in the future I would suggest testing things thoroughly, a bunch of blinking lights is never acceptable except during Christmas, lol.
(Hey, you might even hire a few of the better custom scenery makers and see what they know...)
Genuinely diagonal pathway would have been nice or would be nice for a future game.
Oh, and a way to turn off those annoying messages...and the little audio "bleep" alert... people do play video games to have FUN... not to be "pestered"... it might be a part of the real life job, but if it becomes too tedious and gets in the way of fun, get rid of it!
Something I think everyone missed...
A set of very basic building blocks, very small ones that can be stacked into other forms.. walls, roofs, furniture, signs, the possibilities are almost endless for even something so simple, look how much mileage folks get out of "Minecraft", lol.
Peeps that don't look like cartoon characters or not so "cartoonish"would be a plus. Remember, many people are after realism, it does no good to build a scene like Rembrandt only to have some Fred Flintstone looking lout walking through it. They don't have to be perfect, just more detailed and frankly not so "stylized"... I think you are trying too hard there...
(Also, things like pink hair and tattoos might be trendy at the moment, but will "date" the game and some might find that sort of thing... not offensive, but "tacky"... don't knock yourself out trying to be "hip".)
Oh... and unless I am mistaken there is no "popcorn" stall in RCT-3.
Another thing they somehow overlooked in 3 was a nice flat roof in the glass walls set, the only thing we had was the one from the hydroponic set and that got pretty samey...
Something you might keep in mind... instead of loading the game down with a specific "type" of scenery like "spooky" which seems like it would be seldomly used, first cover some of the more universal pieces, let the custom scenery folks fill in the blanks as far as all the different themes.
I'm not saying don't have any themed pieces, just realize that by spreading yourself so thin trying to cover every possible theme, you are neglecting basic pieces that are 100 times more useful.
Where "marketing" might fail, "common sense" can go a long way.
And I realize it is an Atari game, but we can all learn from the example of RCT-3.
Thx
