RCT 3 PC Is there a future for the RCT series!?

You are correct JP. The gravity velocity on several coasters most notably the woodie and the wooden wild mouse were off.

A perfect example would be my NuPike Cyclone Racer. When modeled on the exact coaster and specs, the cars would barely make it half way before stopping. As where the original hill was 90 feet, a lift hill of 160 feet plus boosters were required to achieve the cars returning to the station.

The wild mouse had cars that ran too fast, way to fast. But I digress, as one only needs to zoom in on the Junior Carousel than watch the Thunder Bobs to see my point.

Don't model it to the exact specs then.........RCT 1 and RCT 2 were exactly the same. I create a recreation making it look realistic, I don't even look at the speed or height specs ever.

Technically, rct2 was the huge expansion in addition with more ability for end user content. :)

Well, 2005

Actually, there isn't any reason I shouldn't have been able to model it after the real deal, had the programmers made it exact.

Honestly, RCT is pretty well dead unless Atari settles with the great one CS....

Basically there are three platforms I'll support both with my hobbyist efforts as well as my pocketbook.

Rct1,2 and 3 since I had already gotten started with them, but no more Atari/Infograme products other than the original RCT3 and the two expansions, mainly because of their hostile silence towards myself and my many friends who loyally spent their hard earned dollars on their products.

Thrillville for the PC since David is behind it and he will (hopefully) listen to the customers, plus I still get Michael Brookes too....a beeeeg plus, and finally Theme Park Builder 3D, because one of the best programmers on the net is behind that endeavor. Doctor J can even program in straight assembly code and there aren't a lot of folks who can do that well, besides his programmer skills on other language types including c++.

I have no interest in Thrillville.

Hopefully it'll appeal to a younger market, but I don't think RCT fans are going to like it.

A sequel to RCT (even if it's not called that) hopefully isn't too far away....David already hinted that. Frontier must have the rights to the engine, so a theme park type game can't be that difficult..........they have so much more time to refine it. Just get rid of the RCT screens, a few bug fixes, new rides, improved GUI....

A game will never have all the features the fans want because then it wouldn't be a game, it's got to be easy to use out of the box.

If its from that corporation, you know the one that has a logo that looks like its giving me the bird, than count me out. I won't spend anything on their products anymore. If its from another publisher I would be greatly interested.

I believe that this will probably be TVPC not a continuation of that other corporation's product line which I staunchly refuse to continue supporting. I rather quit the hobby than give them anymore money of mine. Hope that clarifies my position.

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick hello to all of the old Atari RCT3 forums Peeps, and to give Mr David Braben a tip of my hat and say,....

' David the RCT Community is still here, passionate and loyal to the franchise. We miss our game and community a heck of a lot - so learn from past mistakes and also the successful things that went on with RCT3...........AND GIVE US RCT4!!!... '

We haven't gone away David, we're all still here just awaiting the big announcement of the next step in our favourite game series...

Peace and much love to everyone, I'll be lurking and popping in from time to time to see what's going on - see you in the RCT4 future! :D

I said it again and again and again. RCT is generally a dead product and probably will remain so for a long time while Atari is in court. By the time they get things straightened up after the debacle with Chris Sawyer in court, as they are said to have cheated him out of millions, other technology will have bypassed it. The one good thing is that the newest hardware has caught up with the game for all intents and purposes.

What is needed is a free game, with endless expansions and tons of options and features in the future, that blows RCT3 out of the waters? Time will tell if this can ever become a reality... stay tuned!
