Engineers Is there a point to maxing out Tier 5?

So when you get to level 5 mods. Is there any point in maxing it out or just once you get there you're good?

Depends a bit on you really... :)

For me, I rarely max them out now, as the the later 'improvements' are often very, very marginal. You can tell how close to the maximum whatever you are going for by the numbers on the screen. I stopped when I realized that the last two or three rolls I did for an extended range FSD only got me about 0.2 Ly extra. :)

You get the maximum disadvantage, that's always applied. The benefit is a fraction dependant on the % completion you've rolled. The figure you're getting is clearly displayed (also the max possible). See for yourself if it's worth it.

Thanks guys. Answers my question. I very rarely go in with the bare minimum. But most of my mods are 1 or 2 rolls from max. Sounds like when I get around to it it may be a good idea but until then, it. Appreciate the take from both sides.

If it's easy materials then sure, why not. But generally I would just roll a few times then move on, and finish it off next time I had spare using a pinned blueprint.

One big thing to note: if you're engineering up a bunch of identical weapons, you'll get much more benefit from doing 2 rolls on each than 10 rolls on a single one.

FSD and Thrusters always get maxed at 5, no matter what it takes. For exploration ships, absolutely everything else needs to be maxed as well, especially the lightweight mods.

Most upgrades 3-4 rolls are enough at grade 5 with the last few rolls for minimal gain in most cases
