Is there a problem with the CG reward tier calculation? How is this explained?

I did a poll on this not long ago. If anything is to be learned from it, it's that people just get side tracked. Not many admitted to just signing up regardless.

To be fair it is 137 participants in that poll.

That isn't even 5% of the participates in the CG screen shot two posts above at the time of posting and 1.5% of the Moari CG participants.
Add to that 10% were "I never sign up, not interested in CGs. "
For a voluntary opt in poll in a separate location to the CG sign in, ie forum vs in game, I would not say anything, at all, could be ascertained from the results presented.

Look at the first post. I'd suggest that implies a quarter of the people signed up haven't participated.

And it seems common. Note how I'm being pushed up here by hundreds of CMDRs who have not participated. I should be in the 1% not earning anything surely?:-

Look at how much time is left, though. A lot of people sign up because they plan to participate later, and want to have it in their transactions tab as a reminder and easy reference. They don't drop everything and rush off to the CG right away, they just take it as a reminder to make their way over there sometime before it ends. Just because someone hasn't participated yet doesn't mean they won't participate sometime in the next six days.

Tbh I think people should be punished for signing up for stuff they don't participate in. Nothing too major, just a small rep loss if they fail to deliver 1T or 1 bounty etc. Hopefully discourage people a little from just signing up for everything even if they don't intend to participate.

Are people who actually contribute to the goal not getting rewarded? No.
Are people who don't actually contribute to the goal get rewarded? No.

It is a minor glitch in that case, yes it would be nice if it was fixed so that the levels of reward weren't skewed but no real urgency. Unless fixing it would be likely to get me into the Top Ten in which case it should be fixed immediately.

Well, no one suggested it was major or was urgent?

But it has now been magnified as it's so much easier to sign up to CGs. Hence the problem standing out all the more clearly with far more CMDRs signing up, not takign part, but still be included in the results.

Unless fixing it would be likely to get me into the Top Ten in which case it should be fixed immediately.

Alas, fixing it will make it harder on people participating. ie: You will no longer be pushed up the results brackets by people who have not partiticapated (as is currently happening).
