I wiped my alt so I could experience what new players would be going through in their first hours (or potentially days, if they're not quite comfortable leaving right away) of play, and took a pirate massacre mission. 2 gimballed pulse lasers on the Sidewinder is not ideal, as you're going to want some thermal and kinetic damage to effectively take down a target. Now, I know I'm gonna get some flak for this, and frankly, I don't care; it's what I'm comfortable with, I prefer gimballed weapons, and I'm almost exclusively a PvE player (I don't like PvP for reasons that are my own). Afer a few missions, I had enough credits to do some upgrades on my Sidey (D-rating what I could with the money I had). I took the massacre mission in Matet, and went to the target system. Took down a couple pirates, but it was taking forever to get their hull down, because, let's face it, thermal weapons are not for bringing hull down. So, I went back through the starting systems, not a single 1G gimballed Multi-cannon to be had. So, I went on EDDB to see if maybe I'd missed something, not actually gone to one of the systems or missed a planetary station or something that maybe had them. Nope. Not a single gimballed multi-cannon in the starting system. Closest system to have them was Ehecatl. Now, that's not a problem in terms of jumps or anything. The problem is that once you land at a station outside of the noob bubble, you lose access to the noob bubble. I ended up having to deal with a 1F fixed multi-cannon, which as you might have guessed, I'm not used to. And frankly, I don't want to get used to fixed weapons, nor should I have to. So, my question is, as the title asks, is there a reason for the lack of gimballed kinetic weapons in the starting systems?
