Horizons Is there a ships log somewhere in the game?

Is there a log of events somewhere in the game. My ship was blown up and I want to report a bug but I can't remember the exact place and time and wanted to know if there was something in the game that recorded that.

Thanks.

With 1.7/2.2 you get rather detailed event logs. On Windows, you can find them under "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games" with one log file per session.

There are also network logs in the game installation which you can find in "<install location>\products\<game version>\logs".

In my installation (Windows10) it's in <user>\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\... (the rest is specific to your installation but you'll find it in a logs folder. The log is more extensive if you edit AppConfig.XML before you start Elite:

Find and edit AppConfig.xml in your game folder and add VerboseLogging="1" to the Network section.

For example:
<Network
Port="0"
upnpenabled="1"
LogFile="netLog"
DatestampLog="1"
RelayViaServer="1"
VerboseLogging="1"

But I'd say the new journal file in the SavedGames folder has more information.

I use EDDiscovery and it shows all the info (I think) from the new log - it even finds and keeps separate any other commanders you have.

I hope it develops further as I find the listing of EVERY event (each sale for example) makes the list unsightly - however, that said, this is a great piece of work.

I use EDDI since it is uses your Elite dangerous logs and EDSM to keep a log of places you visited. EDDI uses TTS or text to speech to give you info on such things as System info en-route via hyper space jump, Economy state of whether a system is in a boom, and some case give you navigation info how to orient your ship in relation to the green light on the right or entry point to find you docking pad before entering the station. Rep for asking that important question - information about this is much needed, and an in-game approach should have been offered us from the start. Helpful answers too.

I know that some people don't mind having a multitude of processes running or even sharing their commander log-in info to permit on-the-fly info from E D to their apps - I just am averse to such things.

It probably comes from using flight simulator so much but I like to pare-down the processes running on my PC to as few as (safely) necessary.

So if people know about these apps etc perhaps they would be kind enough to point out to the OP what they are and where to get them as I only know the EDDiscovery thing (well, I mean use - I don't know anything about it's workings) and I never run that when E D is running.

The new file log is pretty darn good in that it carries a lot of information, including most orbital parameters of scanned bodies, co-ordinates of stars, ship equipment, trade, missions (including legal status and a bunch of other rather esoteric bits). Having an in-game UI to comb through that would likely just be "incomplete" or lack data-mining capabilities to many users.
