CQC Is there a targetting bug in CQC?

I have had horrible problems this evening being able to get any kind of a lock on enemy ships. I might briefly see the red target box but I am struggling to lock up enemy ships. The odd one may have the stealth power up but this is consistently ship after ship? Not every game but enough to be frustrating as hell being sat on somebody's tail and not being effectively able to target them. :rolleyes:

Exactly what I was seeing tonight. And if you have to aim 'manually' you're at a big disadvantage. Even more so in team games, as it's more difficult to identify friend or foe.
 
Heat sinks, silent running, and the stealth power up can all be causing this. Manual aiming(IE fixed firing) is still a big deal if you want to be successful in CQC against ships using silent running and heat sinks.
 
Thanks for the feedback. It's not silent running, as they still have shields. I don't think it's heat sinks either, nor the stealth power-up since there were multiple non-targetable ships at once. Moreover, the weird thing is that it's intermittent. You're chasing a ship, the red square blips up for a second but is gone again before you can target it, then the same thing happens again.

If it's the same for everyone, then it's fine, at least the contest is fair. But if only some are experiencing this behaviour, it really skews the contest.
 
Interesting, my first time was indeed confusing. I couldn't lock up targets either. None of my normal controls would work. I thought maybe that all noobs had to fix fire to rank up.
 
In beta, there was one guy, who I saw 1-3 times in multiple games. I even just tried to find him and it was impossible. He always decided who won the game, having 15-20 kills in each game.

Not sure still, if this case was because he was very stealthy, silent running or something. If this was a feature, have to say that something needs a checking. But in the end, if there is a bug/hack, this could be related to that one as well.
 
Not sure about locking on, but I'm having a few inconsistent firing issues with the Eagle using cannons. I guess its the gimbals trying to point the guns through the nose of the ship.

Whats weird is sometimes I get through a whole match without a misfire and do quite well, other matches it seems to happen all the time and the only shots that fire are the ones that were going to miss anyway.

Could be that some players maneuver more than others and this confuses the gimbals too much.
 
i have same problem. i can't lock on enemy ships. i have keys bound to: next hostile ship, previous hostile ship, highest threat, next ship, previous ship etc... and NONE of them would work. it's extremely frustrating. any fixes?
 
My buttons for next target and target hostile, target highest threat all don't work in CQC. Only target ahead. Sometimes I'll have a ship targeted, and out of nowhere, it will lose lock. I know they didn't get the stealth or silent running, because i see them use chaff before. It's not TOO big of a deal, because i just stay on them and re-target when the red box comes back. Sometimes it's gone for just a quick second, and sometimes upwards of 10 seconds. My biggest issue is the occasional guy who knocks me from 100% shields to death in two or three shots.

They dont work in CQC, only target ahead works.
 
Don't mean to sound like an a** but you guys do know that lock on only works with line of sight? Again not tring to be an a** but that is the only thing i can think of that would be wrong here.

We know. :) This is an intermittent issue where the target is dead ahead, not obscured by any obstacle, typically has shields (so can't have silent running), isn't popping chaff yet the square/diamond around them indicating you can lock on doesn't appear, or appears for a second then disappears again before you can lock on.

No its definitely a targeting issue where you simply cannot lock on. One of the tactics I use is to actually purposefully disengage the target lock when an opponent pops chaff so you can score a few extra hits if your lucky, then re-acquire when the chaff runs out...only a lot of the time you can't lock opponents up at all so you mostly playing manual fire anyway :D
