Some high pledge Kickstarter levels allowed naming of systems. It has certainly been suggested that discovering it would allow you to name it however it hasn't made the game yet.
Maybe Frontier wanted to decide how much moderating would be required. This might also be why ship naming still hasn't materialised (even though the original DDF mentioned giving ships offensive names would actually cause you to be treated differently by NPCs)
