Is there a way to change your characters name without resetting the game?

As per the title says, is there away to change my character name? I'm pretty happy with this character, so I'm not wanting to reset it.

The way I understand it:
You generally have to have a decent reason such as removing personal information (if you used your real name etc).
Too many people using it for adding/removing clan tags or changing name to avoid being recognised will just lead to it not being available anymore.

But Support will help if they can.

That makes sense. I'm not personally in the market for such a thing, but I like the information for science.
