Is there a way to find out the relation between loaded mass and jump range?

I haven't really figured it out yet, I just know that there is a relation between the load of my Cobra and the jump range. It has something to do with the optimum mass of the drive (BTW, is it really optimum, or is it the mass where once exceeded, the performance will drop. That is, is the range shorter when my Cobra is lighter than the optimum?)

But is there some sort of range indicator somewhere I've missed? It's not the first time that a destination just pops out of range when I fill my cargo hold with goods, either forcing me to take a detour or to unload stuff at a loss. A small mass:range indicator somewhere would be really nice. Filling it up and using trial and error is just no fun (no, this is not dumbing down, it's making information that's obviously available to the ship's computer accessible to me)

On the galaxy map where you select the destination and your route there is a slider you can move between empty and full in the navigation tab to the left and your jump range changes accordingly.

Really? Never noticed that. And I have spent some time in the galaxy map trying just about everything to make it show what I needed it to show...

I'll have a look when I get back into the game (which may be after Christmas... busy busy busy now)

You maximum range is a also shown in the outfitting screen.
Shows, maximum loaded and unloaded range and how the module you are currently looking at will affect the ships jump range

In the Navgiation tab you can choose to show you Fastest or Economical routes. The slider is below that.
