Newcomer / Intro Is there a way to "interact with the hub access terminal" without getting bounty on my head?

I accepted a mission to "Kill a known terrorist", but to find him i had to to a planetary station and scan a hub access terminal with data link scanner, after which the whole system put a bounty on me and i could not show up there anymore. This is kinda confusing, one would expect that if i help them with a terrorist, they would be thankful.

However i saw some video about hacking a space station for data without getting caught, so i wonder if it's possible to do something simmilar and get the terrorist location without causing alarm. I did not find any tutorial on this. Does anyone know?

If it's a private data node you are stealing, no way around it. I'd have thought someone ready to perform an assassination wouldn't be squeamish about some data theft.

It's a terrorist goddamnit. If i kill an islamist terrorist in Syria, Syrian government also won't be angry at me for that.
But ok, let's say it was just propaganda and that individual was in fact just a soldier working for that faction.
There must be a way to get the data uncaught. Last time i went for a terrorist, my whole home system and home station went after me and i had to report myself to the administrator and let them take me into custody.

"Terrorist": one group's wanted terrorist is the other group's cherished freedom fighter.

Terminal: be fast. Scan the terminal with the datalink scanner from inside a small, fast, agile ship (Sidewinder or Viper are ideal for that) and get inside and back out of the security perimeter before the timer runs out.

Bounty: paying at off at the nearest IF is the easiest option. Remember that the bounty is linked to the ship, so you need to visit the IF with the ship you incurred the bounty in. And as for showing up in the system - that only gets interesting if they manage to scan you. As long as you can avoid that (again, your choice of ship may help you there), you can dock anywhere you want. You may have to dock under anonymous protocol, limiting your choice of services, though. And whatever you do - think twice about "handing yourself in" to the authority contact - read the fine print. You will end up in the nearest prison facility - which can be quit a ways off (several thousand ly in case of the Colonia Prison Taxi route).

Part of the mission is to go to the interstellar factor to clear the bounty: Scan the terminal, kill the terrorist, visit the IF, cash in.

I'm trying it, but it seems impossible. Only the time to find the access terminal is enough to get the fine, and to hack it you need to actually stop very close to it and stay there for few seconds, which is always enough for the alarm to start. Will silent mode help me here?

If you scan the hub in your SRV and then the SRV gets destroyed you should then reappear in your ship. I assume that is a way of doing these, never bothered with them myself.

Probably not. But why do you go into the trespass zone to find the terminal? For me at least, the terminal shows up in the contacts a few hundred meters out from the trespass zone boundary (trespass zone is usually ~2500 meters, terminal shows up at maybe 2600 meters if you come in from the right direction).

NB, the same for the discrete power failure (or ship generator attack) scenarios. Target lock persists for slightly further than the trespass zone boundary. You still get the bounty for the attack - but since they don't know where you are, you can be safely away even before the generator goes bang.
