Is there a way to prevent view rotating to face side-menus if using 3 screens? (for simpit cockpit integration)

I'm going to try to arrange three screens into providing the panoramic view for a simpit/cockpit. This means I want the virtual cockpit to stay aligned with the physical one.

So when I open a side menu, I don't want the entire view to rotate to center on the menu, instead I want to simply see the menu on my left (or right).

Does anyone know if there a way to do this?

(There are other issues with good simpit integration, like the forward-backwards motion of the virtual cockpit, but these aren't as immersion-breaking as the view rotating. I wish there was a way to pull the menus off into their own physical screens that could be installed in a cockpit, but I expect those kinds of sim features are probably not even on FDev's long-term wishlist)

Thank you! Perfect!

Next problem: without the rotation, the menus are cut off at the bottom of the side screens. Is this something that can be solved somehow (eg maybe set up my screens portrait instead of landscape so I get more height, or does it just scale the cockpit to fill the new vertical height and achieves nothing? Some other solution?) or is it just not really possible to build a cockpit for Elite?

Not sure - I just tested it myself and it's the same for me. There might be some config workaround but you could try posting it as a bug in the bug report forum. I can't imagine it's supposed to be like that. Are you using Eyefinity with different size and resolution monitors?

I suspect it's meant to be like that and only intended to used with headlook (and forced-on for VR). My monitors are the same, but I'm using Nvidia Surround which I think is the same as Eyefinity - the monitors are presented to Elite as if the computer has only a single monitor with a super-wide resolution.

From what research I've done at the Library of Google, it sounds like Elite lacks multi-monitor support, and lacks support for wrap-around output. It sounds like building a cockpit for the game isn't really possible. :(

Things I did find - the FOV can be edited to values beyond the slider-bar via the setup file. And it looks like some people are selling software that takes a cranked-up FOV and (un)distorts it to get a more useful wrap-around display. So perhaps "isn't really possible" is slightly too strong a statement, but it looks like a serious amount of hacking and graphics card programming to do it because of the lack of support from the game. :-/

The UI lock-on option is fairly new I think so it might be work in progress. I find that FD are pretty good at implementing small fixes like this so hopefully they can do something for us multi-monitor guys too. They were quick to fix the VR graphics problems in PP so why not. It shouldn't be that hard either? - they only need to push the menu HUD up a few hundred pixels on either side. Could easily be implemented as a "Eyefinity mode" toggle option in the controls I'd imagine though I'm far from an expert on this stuff.

I'm not really using Eyefinity much so I'm not too bothered about it, but it might be worth running the idea past them at least. ;)
