Is there an easy way to find conflict zones.

Me and a friend are hanging out in LHS 3447 and are looking for some combat in open play.

What is the easiest way to find a conflict zone. Is there a way to spot them on the galaxy map?

I found http://infolimpet.tk/conflicts but it doesn't search by closeness but rather by exact system.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Based off my own googlings I find that tool to be the best available, at least that I know of. I just look for the faction I want to fight for and then search in galaxy map for the systems to see how far away they are.

Not sure of any other way apart from checking the system to see if it's at war/civil war. Iota Persei was in civil war last week but it has since resolved. As of yesterday if I remember correctly BD+65 1846 currently in in civil war and has a conflict zone less than a few LS from one of the stations.

I thought I saw a Galnet article about systems in conflict. Can anyone confirm that?

Yep, but you only get a list of about 10 or so. It says something like "there are 9000 systems with ongoing civil war/conflict including:" and then it lists the 10. Not really helpful if those 10 (of 9000!) aren't close to you...

Galnet article shows a top 10 of conflict and war (something like that) - basically enter the system in the galaxy map and find the closest one - when in that system look for a CZ that's close to a rearming/refuelling/repair station that's close enough for your life support to get you there should you lose canopy - couple hundred light seconds at most. Do this then you spend more time fighting and less time in supercruise.
Look in station bulletin boards for any kill missions within the CZs for decent payout plus rep building

just create some by making the system government power in that system go down the drain, you can accomplish this by doing missions on the bulletin board which are designed to be going against that systems power in one form or another.
