Looking for a rough idea of when servers will go down, and when upgrade is available.

Based on past experience, down around 9-10am GMT back up around 17-18gmt
This. Certainly expect the servers to be down most of the day and possibly into the evening if they encounter unexpected issues
Its either 10am or 4pm local time. I'm betting 4pm as with the last two beta / updates.

Was gonna book the day off work but with servers prob being down all day, I'll save it for another day.
Don't ever book the day off, as most of it will be F5 smashing. Smart move is to book the next day off

It's never worth it, especially as they often change the day last minute, or issues can run over to the next day.
Ed mentioned something about a live stream tomorrow to keep us amused while wait. Judging on past update servers usually go down about 10 and are up by 4. However, you also need to add on the usual spate of slow downloads, installation problems and the update taking longer at frontiers end.
Basically, if you can play tomorrow it's a bonus. Otherwise, do something more useful instead

Tuesday is my regular day off (I'm a shift worker). Are you suggesting that I sign up for an extra shift?

Whatever you do don't take the day off! I made that mistake when 2.1 dropped & the waiting was more boring than being at work. 'Lesson learned!
As I remember, it was also a bank holiday weekend following, so I had planned to use 4-5 full days of play to unlock all of the engineers & upgrade my ships to god-like levels...errrr, that didn't work out too well as it turned out - what with the bugs (missing meta alloys for example) & the unbelievably time-consuming mechanics.
2+ years later....I have unlocked 12 to G5, I think!
