Like, do they spawn in specific system states, or economy, you get the idea.

Cheers!

I haven't spotted any particular pattern, just keep cranking out the missions and you'll get them soon enough. That being said you'll most likely find that once you've unlocked Qwent you'll start seeing them more often than you did before.

Dunno if they're more prolific at high-tech systems but I was in LHS 20 when I decided to unlock Qwent, just looked at the mission board, took on every mission that offered MTs as rewards, carried out those missions that then looked for more similar missions at every destination.

Every station I visited had at least one mission that paid in MTs, more often 2 or even 3, so it only took about an hour and a half to collect 25.

Course, it actually took me about 4 hours because, somewhere along the way, I got confused and started collecting Telemetry Suites instead of MT's. [where is it]

Modular Terminals are a pretty common mission reward. Only thing you shouldn't do is specifically and only invest your game time finding these missions. If you do you will end up mode switching all the time and travelling from one station to another to check different mission boards. I am pretty sure you want to unlock that Engineer who wants 25 of them. Is there any reason (other than impatience) you need the MTs by tomorrow? Take your time, make some missions and credits while checking the board. If there's no MTs, do another mission. That's how I did it, and that took me two days, and hours of play time, but I have never been frustrated or annoyed in that time and made a few millions meanwhile.

If I remember rightly....

I think I started looking for them at HG Wells station but pretty much found a mission every stop from there.... didn't take very long

You need to be looking for something else.

Or not need them any more. After I finally got to 25 and handed them over, the next few missions had loads of them.

1: go to SIRIUS
2: go trough all mission looking for Modular Terminals
3: mode hop ( solo , open , Private ( only do this once dont waste time ) ) you might find 1 or 2 mission with MT. Normally delivery missions!
4: go do the delivery mission ( reward is normally 4 MT )
5: once at new Station repeat step 2 to 5
took me about 1hour to get the 25 i needed

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm not going to bother with the mode switching stuff. I did that once in order to get the invite mission. For the MT's, I'm just making an adventure out of it. Already collected eight. It can't be too long until I have all that I need.

I'm in LFT 37 quite often and in scrolling through the missions, modular terminals are always there, I don't need them, as well as exquisite focus, modified embedded firmware, biotech conductors, abnormal emissions, and every other thing I don't need. It holds true as I travel as well.

The one item that isn't common is CIF. I've manage to collect 42 of them on my way to 50 (going to try for a god rolled DD 5).

It's a running joke now, but a long time ago I posted that if you don't need, you find it. More recently I've posted that FD has coded that into the game, mere speculation by me, but I see more posts by others of the "don't need it, you'll find it" club.

This is good advice except the very first item, which should be replaced with: 1) Go wherever you are allied with EVERYBODY. There must be some area of space where you have been grinding main faction rep by boosting various subfactions? Go there, and trawl the mission board, NOT the passenger board, passenger missions take far too long and have no greater a chance to spawn modular terminals than any other mission.

Personally, since I'm allied with all the factions in Sol, that's where I went. I was able to select from over 65 missions in my python at Daedalus. On the first try, only one was giving Terminals, but and each board refresh let me take one or two more. I collected the 7 missions I needed to get the 28 (you cannot obtain 25 only, you will have three left over, sell them at Qwent, he gives highest price anyway) actually, it was 6 missions for me cos I already had 4 from earlier activities. They are 'normally' found on boom data, research data and one way transport missions (not incoming, outgoing).

Wish there was a similarly easy way with Palin's unknown fragments. Grrrr.

P.S. If you are going to use your new allied status with Sirius Corp to do this, go to Ashby City to trawl sirius missions, as it's conveniently close to the main star.

I'm having trouble finding Modular Terminals too. Flown to near Sirius (no permit); the only missions I have found (in 2 days) for Mod Terms are the occasional passenger missions. My ship doesn't have cabins.
I've also tried to fly to every system highlighted in this forum and no luck at all.
