Newcomer / Intro Is there any new mining players?

Do you guys get assaulted by pirates alot? I'm curious if it's worth my friend buying the game and him mining and i defend him from pirates, or if it's a lonely job

I haven't mined yet but I remember seeing at least a thread titles "Miningirates' Paradise?"

Useful hint, dont mine at the established mining locations, they swarm with npc pirates and possibly player pirates etc. Instead look for a large planet with rings around it, preferably metallic, and i think its abundant in the system map. Fly there, find a random location somewhere near the inner rings and drop from supercruise there. voila a private mining area, however only private as long as someone doesnt find his low intensity wake before it disappears
