Is there any science station type in elite?

Hello commanders.

Is there any kind of stations/station type that gets income from science? Like research or exploring?

All stations are capable of having Exploration Data from Discovery and Surface Scanners turned in through Universal Cartographic.

But if you mean is there an economy type that deals with that sort of thing in a lore sense? I'd have to say Service Stations as they provide services and assistance and support for research would certainly be such a thing.

Close second would be Hi-Tech since most of their commodities revolve around the meds.

Tourism a third since well... exploration is the art of finding places for tourists to gawk at.

there is a type of outposts, "scientific outposts" - they look great.

at all of these stations you have the universal cartographics service. and they generate long distance passenger/exploration missions.

unfortunately that's all atm.

some CGs had a research contact, where you could turn in non-material things like data, i hope those will be added to scientific outposts at some point. would give them something more unique.
