Is there any way around the slow down sign?

I'm a trader, when I am super cruising to a station a sign says slow down almost everytime.
The problem is the game actually slows me down by itself.
Is there anyway to over ride it slowing me down by itself?

You're slowing down because you're reaching your destination. Computer scales down your speed range in addition to any speed loss caused by gravitational interference from the planet. The "slow down" sign is for when your throttle is set above cruising speed and your ship is trying to maintain as much of its momentum as possible, while still being slowed down by the gravity well.
Full throttle when leaving a gravity well = accelerate as fast as possible.
Full throttle when entering a gravity well = decelerate as slowly as possible.
Throttle setting just can't get around the overwhelming force of massive gravity wells, the longer you spend with your FSD straining to keep above the level of spacewarping allowed by local spacetime, the more speed you lose until you reach the proper velocity for the region of space you're currently passing through. This is indicated by the right-hand bar on the throttle meter. When it's higher than your maximum throttle position it means you're moving faster than you should be, and you'll bleed off speed until you either escape the gravity well or slow down sufficiently.

I'm sorry I forgot to specify. I understand the mechanics you are talking about. But this is happening as soon as I arrive in the system and turn away from the star.
I'm still real far from where I'm going like 300ls and the slow down sign comes on and slows me down when there's nothing in front of me.

This is still because you are entering another gravity well - even though the object isn't directly in your line of flight/sight.

There is maybe other planets/stars close to you, or on the route to the station that are slowing you down?

You can't avoid the slow down when close to them. You can change your route to pass far enough from them to not get slowed down, if planet/stars locations allow it.

I think the problem is that you are passing close to heavenly bodies while in sc. Their gravity is what slows you down while your engines strain to maintain your velocity. If you pass too close at high speed the gravity can pull you out of SC causing damage to your ship. The ships computer is suggesting that you reduce speed in order to prevent damage should you get pulled out of SC.

If you are passing close to a bunch of rubble . . err . . asteroid field, you will be affected by its gravity and the slow down sign will flash up. You can, if you're really lucky, actually run into an asteroid field and it'll pull you out of SuperCruise. (it's a really small target, though)
It may be that the system(s) you are frequently in have many asteroid fields - so it's happening a lot for you. (guessing!)

I think the "automated" is a necessary consequence of the physics of our FTL Drives - besides, without it we'd spend all day trying to get the speed right for exiting within a thousand k of our target.

I noticed that to, sometimes right after leaving the star gravity well, and no other bodies around. It's a brief slow down, but still. Could it be the belt clusters usually around stars? They don't appear on the radar unlike celestial bodies.

The slowing isn't dictated by the computer unless there isn't a sufficient gravity well to reduce you to a safe dropout speed at your destination. Slowing when passing through a gravity well is an artefact of the game's physics design, nothing the ship can do about it but try to minimize the unwanted speed changes. I like it that way, feels more real. The brief slowdowns when passing stars are from the asteroid belts, yes. If you notice it happening check your navigation tab and look for an asteroid belt whose distance is decreasing. Your engines should stop whining when that number starts increasing again.

I always interperated the message as "You are being slowed down" and not "You must slow down", there are often asteroid clusters around or near the nav point/jump entry which do not show up on the radar however when passing one (or any other body) the influence (simulated gravity) causes the ships computer to reduce your velocity (for safety ??).

Also, when you move away from the star, move "down" or "up" to fly above or below the orbit lines.
They can slow you down too even if no planet actually near you.

I don't think that's how the gravity works. Moving off the ecliptic plane is good for avoiding skimming the edge of a sphere of influence, but if there's no planets in your field of view you can jet off from the star to your destination as the crow flies with no problems.

My favourite: being told to slow down during hyperspace jumps

There can be very odd changes in speed in Supercruise sometimes. I suspect it happens when you change frames of reference and the game adjusts your speed accordingly.

Yes, but if you're affected by a gravity well it should read "SLOWED down", not "SLOW down". Why would it tell you to slow down, when you're already BEING slowed down by a star or planet.

It's contradicting and confusing information, when the same phrase is used to warn you of overshooting AND of being decelerated.

It makes no sense, never has.

The odd changes tend to be the individual asteroid field rocks, which aren't marked. Going above or below the plane gets you away from them.
