Is there anything "different" out there?

Hi everyone!

I wanted to reach out to the community and ask for a little information about exploration. I've looked through several forums and read more entries than I can count, but I can't seem to find any info on something I'm really curious about.

That is simply, ...Is there anything (or has there been any confirmation from Frontier), that there is/are indeed things to find out in space (other than simply tagging new stars/systems or the UA's and barnacles which we already know about)?

I've read a couple of post where DB stated there were things in space to find, however the post I found was before the findings of the UA's & barnacles, and I wondering if that might be all he was referring to at that time.

Obviously, I know and understand that they might not want to say there is anything to find out there, as that would perhaps take away from the point of exploration in the first place. However, the fact is that it is a game, and I'd like to at least know things have in fact been placed within it. (Don't want to know where, or what, or have any clue as to that kind of information, but simply "it's out there" is enough for me).

I absolutely love the idea of exploration, and it does give me that goal to strive for and work up too (endgame if you will). I just want to know that there is a chance of finding something different, amazing, unique, etc.

Think about it this way, if we could explore Space IRL to the extent we can in the game, the thought of "something out there" is very real. Yet to break the forth wall for one brief moment, (sorry), this game is designed and developed by real mortal men/women. Therefore things have to be implemented to exist. Even if the dev's themselves don't know where something is due to computer random placement, they have to put it in game in the first place.

So is there any comment or confirmation of "different" things truly being out there, just waiting to be found?

Thanks everyone!

If there is, nobody has found them yet. There was mention that something related to Thargoids might be discovered during the 2.0 season and there is the large swathe of space (6 secotrs?) on the far side of Sag A^ that are closed to players for future updates.
I've covered over 500kly and 20,000 systems and I haven't seen anything extremely unique yet.

There are things to find out there but they are astronomical things rather than science fiction things.

For example, there are very few ringed earth like worlds out there but you can find them, if you are lucky. I have found one but I haven't found a single black hole yet apart from Sagittarius A*. An earth like orbiting a black hole has been found and a gas giant so close to it's star that it was pulled out of shape. Nobody has ever found more than two earth likes in the same system. Nobody has ever found more than six water worlds in the same system. You might find a water world in close orbit around a gas giant or my personal goal, if it is possible at all, an earth like world in a planetary nebula with a landable moon.

I've seen it stated by devs that there are things - or at least, something - out there that hasn't been found. Perhaps it's true.
(eta - With the best will in the world, I get the impression FDevs are a bit left-hand right-hand when it comes to knowing what's lurking in space.) :D
Notable options are the Thargoids, the Missing, Raxxla (whatever that is) and more barnacle stuff.

As Katejina alluded to there are a number of locked permit sectors out there. The ones on the far side of Sadge are perhaps the most well-known but there are several others. I won't post the names (except for REGOR sector which is right next door to Sol) but if you want to know a forum search will find them.

A few nebula, planetary nebula, Supergiant stars, sagittarius A* and a the standard mix of planets small and large. Seen those pretty much seen it all but there's something to be said about being at the edge of the galaxy and looking back with less than 10 stars in view behind you...

But as far as unique things I think not currently or as above not found.

I'll be honest, I mostly explore to take great screenshots. I know it sounds silly, but I'm out in deep space hunting great photo opportunities! That's probably why I love Horizons so much just the way it is now, because I can land on a lot of planets and just take in the views and press F10 to my heart's content. In this regard there is tons to explore in the deep of space.

Other than that, nah not really. :) Although I do enjoy the challenge of trying to get to hard to get into places, like areas of low star density and whatnot, and it's always a hoot to find a procedural nebula that hasn't been tagged yet.

Cool deal! Thank you guys for the replies. I guess all the speculation will have to surfice, and perhaps one day one of us will stumble onto that "Easter Egg" that kicks off something big. It is kinda cool to believe that perhaps the devs have placed things out there that will cause world events once they are found. (That is prb what would happen IRL). Nice to think that they are all just wringing their hands waiting for "the thing/s" to be discovered. :)

Either way, sounds like fun and the hunt is on.

@Katejina 20,000 systems = Wow! Serious respect to you sir.

I sure would like to run into one of the 70,000 plus gigantic generation (colonization) ships that they were discussing 32 years ago. They are supposed to be "ploughing" their way through the galaxy, but no joy so far. ;)

@Dippy @Goemon That's IT!!! That's what I was hoping to hear, thanks for the links. And @Mengy the idea of taking great screenshots is really cool too, it is a gorgeous game, and to be honest the thought of being a "space photographer" has entered my mind as well. I also have my own little YouTube channel, (my little corner of the Interwebs), where I've thought about running my own little vlog - "look what I found" videos/series. I think that'd be fun.

Again, thank you all for the replies.

Happy hunting! o7

My sanity is out there somewhere.

Of that, I am not so sure. I used to think that I left my sanity out there too. Then I realized that it required me(and probably you too) to have had it in the first place!

Don't get down though, you are still my favorite forum poster. :D Your clever humor gets me every time!

Cmdr Falco found a whole sector, based around a nebula, that is on the far side of the core and it is permit only. I think it is Bleia5 YE-A H30. Thargoid home sector??

I think I saw it being carried away by a llama at waypoint 22. Just about the same time space madness set in, not connected of course :)
