Is there anything on 'em rocks out of the bubble?

So, on my first exploration trip here, decided to land my scrawny behind on a few of'em rocks out there, to scrap for various materials. However, I was expecting to actually also find somethin' else on the surface, like some ship wrecks with a story or a ghost bar or somethin'. But no. Only rocks, makin' smaller rocks that I turn into baby rocks and feed'em to my carburetor.

I noticed inside the bubble you stumble upon POI quite often. I would've thought this happens also out in the black. Randomly generated and not persistent, of course.

So, was I just outta' luck, or is there really nothin' on the planets' surfaces out there?

Back in the day non-persistent POIs could often be found even on the other side of the Galaxy...crashed ships mostly carrying tea. Since this was highly implausible (since why would haulers carrying tea be traveling 65kly from the bubble...) FD changed the POI algorithm to make them only appear somewhat near the bubble.

Hopefully now with 2.2 we will find alien POI further out from the bubble.

There are still POIs out there, they're just a lot rarer, but they are mostly the same as the ones in the bubble.

You can also still find volcanic stuff/organic stuff but those don't show up as a POI. Potentially there are also ancient ruins out there too.

I see. So...for the sake of realism, there's mostly nothin' out there.

Now, I support the idea of givin' things a realistic feeling, but...it can get kinda' boring after a while. I wish at least we had some kind of advanced surface scanners that could point out whether or not it makes sense to drop on a planet for anything other than collecting materials. They could have limited range and mechanics that would not make us just find everything on a planet in one loud honk, but they would be somethin', as opposed to nothin'. We are in a sci-fi world after all.

Well, anyway: thanks you very much for your answers, guys!

I found a crashed data pod / nav becon thing on a moon right at the bottom of the rift yesterday, a poi showed up as I was landing! Wasnt expecting that. However, the data is only worth about 4k and will have no effect on my gameplay or anyone elses, still kinda nice to see tho

Well, at least you found something. I don't explore for the cash, but for the experience that...err...I THOUGHT I could have. Not really so much out there besides a lot of pretty pictures though. I started to use a neutron star course just to up the risks a bit...maybe get some sort of survival gameplay feeling.

i dont leave the bubble without tea! what are you trying to say us explorers can't drink tea? i survive on tea! my ship has a tea gauge and i need to put the kettle on while fuel scooping...

if i died in the black my ship would expel lots of tea...

There are presumably alien ruins somewhere out there, but it has also been confirmed that there are alien flora on volcanic moons. There are, of course, also fumeroles and geysers, as well as immeasurable gorgeous views from nebulae, ringed planets, and the starry galactic core. I finally found my first fumeroles in the galactic aphelion today.
