Is there anyway to reduce the size of my ED Games folder?.

I have been an almost daily player of EDH for the 4-5yrs since I bought the original ED game. A couple of days ago I updated with the latest patch which took almost 20mins to install at an average download rate of 35MB/s. Since downloading a tv episode of approx 1GB takes around 10-15mins or so at my usual VPN rate of 2.5Mib/s it set me off to checking just how big my EDH game folder was. Inside the Games folder I found a folder named Elite Dangerous-64 containing 20.9GB of files and another named PUBLIC_TEST SERVER containing 15.9GB of files. Is there anyway to reduce these file sizes?. I remember finding out that my NVIDIA graphics updates kept all older copies each time I updated drivers and was able to delete over 6GB of older files from it only keeping the latest ones. Can something similar be done for EDH?.

I've been playing since day 1, nearly 9200hrs on the gameclock.

I'm on my 3rd laptop now, since starting ED, so that problem takes care of itself, each new laptop clears out any old files:)

Easy ... get bigger disk drive !!

And consider switching to an SSD ... 1TB is now (relatively) cheap.

Amazon had a sale on 1Tb and 2Tb SSDs recently... you're probably too late to get one reduced right now, but there's always black friday later in the year.

There are log files which are normally not massive which can be cleared out. There are session logs, and the journal files could be I guess.
The answer is to get more space, or remove something else, like documents.

Move documents to onedrive turn on, download on demand.... then delete local PC versions

I didn't set the question in regard to lack of space. My Game folder is in my 1TB storage drive, I also have another 500GB storage drive and run my PC on a 125GB SSD drive which I like to keep as light as possible. The game files being 20GB now that I have deleted the beta files are nothing in the context of storage but are in the context of the updates. I have a 200Mbps broadband connection with Virgin Media and so download speed is not an issue either at my end so the time it takes to complete the update probably must be on the FD servers. I just wanted to know if there was a way to reduce the file size to aid speeding up the update file downloads, if this is not possible then so be it.

I think the PUBLIC_TEST SERVER folder contains the beta version of elite, ence you can delete it.
