Horizons Is there different beta access?

Hi there,
Apologies if this is common knowledge, but I don't frequent any forums and have only recently gotten back into ED.
I originally bought ED in 2014 at the beta stage and enjoyed pottering around in there until the retail version was released.
I played for a lot of hours before moving on to other games.
About 6-7 weeks ago I bought the Horizons update and have really been enjoying the game again.
My question is does my old beta access translate into Horizons too or is that a separate purchase to be able to test new features being developed?
Thank you!

Yes, you need to buy beta access for Horizons separately.

I backed the game during Kickstarter and had access to all beta phases prior Horizons release, but I don't have access to 2.x betas as I didn't buy Horizons beta access.

If you were a backer during Kickstarter, shouldn't you have access to all beta testing without buying anything further ?

You should have beta access to the Horizons season betas, if you have/had any of these:

  • Alpha Access
  • Premium Beta Access
  • Lifetime Pass
  • Purchased Beta Access for the current season

Note that regular beta access prior to game release or Kickstarter backer without any of the features above does not qualify.

BTW: I was more than happy when I got beta access half-way through season 1 due to my pre-launch lifetime pass purchase for $50, as this was not originally included. :D
