is there enough hook to keep veteran players after 2.4, Sandro?

I kind of look at it this way (note, I am a ways away from all Elite, but have moderate rank and engineer unlocks all around), if there are fundamental improvements to the experience, especially starting from scratch and moving though the CMDR life, then why not start over? Though being, it would not be the same experience as you had when you first attained where you are now, but rather it would offer a completely fresh take on starting out though obtaining all Elite.

Frankly, if there was that much of a overhaul to the experience, imagine if FD simply wiped all CMDR statuses and set us all back to beginning to play though the new exciting offerings?! Could be interesting...

I see where the op is coming from. I am totally anti grind.. i give myself (silly) rules in the game to slow down my progress (never sell a ship i do not have another version of, and never sell a module on 1 ship to fund a module on another.

I never do things which I "feel" are exploiting loopholes in the game or just seem silly to me./.. .and i have done 1 "semi" wipe by sinking all my cash into an anaconda, and going to an imperial eagle E rated with 100 credits in an area of space i had no reputation with a plan to try ships i skipped / did not exist 1st time through. unfortunately such is the game as is now, in 10 hrs i had a loaded imp eagle, a loaded DB scout, and a usable FGS.

All of the above is done because to me, part of the appeal is the journey to elite, and the journey to owning everything in the game.

thanks to this i am still - somewhat - enjoying the game after 1500 hrs and am still not even the rank before elite on any of the tiers. I genuinely am worried that i will lose a lot of the will to play however once i get triple elite and own all ships. It maybe a mental flaw but i need to have a goal. pure sandbox games do nothing for me

i just hope FD give us different skinners boxes to fill once we fill the ones we have. (engineers imo were done catastrophically badly but in principle they were great for adding longevity to the game imo)

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I think just improving the core mechanics will be enough to satisfy most long-timers. I play the game because I enjoy playing the game. If the core experience evolves and improves then so much the better for grizzled old timers and greenhorns too.

To do so would undoubtedly cause uproar - over two and a half years after launch....

There's nothing stopping individuals choosing to reset their CMDR or buying a new account to start again on though. :)

I would say yes, I only need 4K galaxy map to be better, and a NPC Helmsman/AP to help me move around in the galaxy without pressing (J) X hundred times.

You could do that. I have only just got a python and that is now my biggest ship. Most of my time is spent in small ships, as I find them more fun then the bigger ships.

We agree entirely.

We don't need no stinking autopilot/docking computer! We have more than a millenia's worth of advanced twitch gamers who can prove you wrong!

Or, so they claim. :)

So, what your saying is you would like to have an auto pilot? What is the official word on that? We haven't had a rousing debate on an auto pilot feature for so long that I forget where everyone stands

Hats. Hats should solve all the problems.

With all due respect, the OP has raised a serious issue. Can we be serious for a moment? I think it has been well established that this game needs cheese. And not merely as a trade commodity - I envisage cheese bobbleheads in the store. All kinds of varieties - Cheddar, Gouda, Feta and so on. And how about some cheese themed skins for the spaceships? The wedge shapes are ideally suited for this. Stilton, Swiss, Pepper Jack would make awesome paint jobs.

Please excuse me as I have to go now, the matron says it's time for me to take my medication.

Hats are important too. We can have both.
