Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

I made a habitat for a giant tortoise (the one beginning with A) and got everything he wanted until it came to the coverage. I used the filters to set the correct biome and continent and have used the right stuff because the Plants bit now says 100% and is green, but I’m struggling to get the coverage out of the red. Placing trees and plants were bringing it up 2% at a time, which was fine, but now it’s stopped. So it’s still in the red saying not enough coverage, but now if I add more plants or trees, the plant percentage goes down and the coverage stays the same. I have tried every single tree and plant in the correct filter for the animal but I can’t get the coverage up and the plant percentage depletes.

What am I doing wrong?

Screenshot?

Coverage literally means "How much area does the foliage cover" and is primarly achieved by trees. You need to space them out around the habitat to get the most benefit of them. Think of how much rain would be blocked by the trees?

Ah ok, so do I need to try moving my current plants and trees around the habitat? They are pretty well spread to be honest, but I’ll try this again.

Many plants counts almost zero to the "coverage" need it seems.
Try to place the biggest tree you can find.
In rare cases only certain plants seem to count at all.
I don't think its working as intented, but with a little tinkering i was always able to get
the furry little things satisfied.

edit:
moving them around is not making a difference
i don't think the game actually knows where you put them, i guess every plant has a certain coverage-value that is
somehow calculated with the size of the habitat

Thanks. I put the biggest tree in from the correct biome and continent and the animal hated it! It appeared in red in the list at the bottom. Infact, quite a few of the plants/trees caused this to happen. I’m very confused by the whole thing!

When you placed the right biome and continent that is a bug for sure.
One i never encountered.
And i just made habitats for both giant tortoises.

Yes, it did confuse me. I thought that by having the correct biome and continent, the animal should be happy with all the trees and plants in that list, yet this tortoise was not happy with some of them at all. I will screenshot tomorrow.

Yeah trees count for a lot more than bushes and some trees are more than others.

If you had the right biome AND continent selected then report it as a bug. I found some trees in beta that were tagged incorrectly which caused this.

Did you try saving and reloading the zoo? I've had issues with coverage getting bugged out until I reload.
There's also a lot of issues with the filters showing plants the animals dislike even when set to the correct biome/continent.
