Is this a known bug : NPC Taipan fighters wanted, but mother ship not ?

I was in a RES and scanned a Tiapan NPC fighter that was launched from another ship. I did not scan the mother ship

The fighter was wanted and so I warrant scanned and started to shot. Everything was ok until he decided to fly close to the mother ship and dock.
Of course I hit the mother ship and all hell broke loose.
I was now a criminal with a bounty on my head and everyone wanted a piece of me.

Is this a Bug ???

Surely if a fighter is wanted, the mother ship should also turn wanted ?

You hadn't scanned the mothership confirming that it was wanted thus when your shots grazed it you were made wanted. Much like when pirates scan you and start chatting about your cargo, from experience you know their wanted but have to scan. The only time you don't have to scan is when your clean and a ship is firing on you in which case a scan isn't necessary.

My guess is that you hadn't scanned the mothership confirming that it was wanted thus when your shots grazed it you were made wanted.

This is exactly what happened, but not my question I was asking.

I scanned the Tiapan and it was wanted. Surely the mother ship that launched it should be wanted too ?

Thanks, but the question still stands, why isn't the mother ship wanted when the fighter is ?

I guess it is the ED mechanics at work and logically a bug, but technically how the game works due to how all scans / wanted work and they don't link the fighter to the mother ship.
