Is this all there is to Elite: Dangerous?

I bought the Premium Beta which says I can download current versions of Elite: Dangerous but all I can download is a December 20, 2013 build that only has scenarios. None of the content that I saw on the Elite: Dangerous website, the Elite: Dangerous forums, the Elite: Dangerous YouTube videos or the numerous reviews online. I have seen no space stations, supercruise, trading, or galaxy map.

You'll get all that on Friday when Premium Beta starts for real. The access to single player scenarios is just to help us acclimatise.

And welcome to the forums! :)

Hi Jasa,

Welcome to the forums.

There is a lot more to Elite: Dangerous, however the features are being rolled out incrementally to various groups of players. You will have access to all this and more very soon ;)

It also says those features will be unlocked on the 30th May. Currently it's still Alpha 4.03, it'll be beta on Friday. And then your client will update.

I guess I should have bought the standard Beta instead.
Why? Premium Beta gets you flying practice right away, and stations, different ships, star systems, starmap etc. (= latest Alpha experience and some more) in mere 4 days.

I was hoping I'd have at least a current Alpha.
Why?

Okay... I see. I was re-reading for a week the differences between the Premium Beta and the Standard Beta concluding that the Premium just had more access and update options than the Standard. I missed the concept that it could only be a base install.

If you had bought Alpha access when it was still offered you would have. They decided to give Premium Beta players access to an older build of the Alpha as a gesture of good will of sorts. They had never said before that they were going to do that as far as I know.

But you only have a few days to wait now to get access to what Alpha players have been enjoying for the last week or so, and hopefully a little more besides. We shall see... :)

The differences.

1. premium beta starts in the 30th of May. Regular beta access is unknown when will happen. If you got regular beta, you wouldn't be able to play the game now.

2. premium beta gets you all the future game expansions for free.

3. until premium beta hits in 30th May, you can download and play a single player early alpha version so that you can get accustomed to the controls etc.

You concluded right. Only thing you didn't realise was that the real Premium Beta isn't available for download until this Friday. The Alpha 1.1 combat build is just additional reward, letting you try an aspect of the game before the product you've purchased is delivered.

It's not...

The premium beta tier originally granted players access to the first wave Beta. That beta starts this weekend. When it starts, premium beta players get access to everything in-game that Alpha players get.

The fact that you can use Alpha 1 right now- before you get Beta access and before standard beta players get anything at all- is a bonus that was added to the premium beta tier a few months ago. Standard beta players will have to wait until a currently unknown date for their access to the second wave of the Beta, and they can't even download the Alpha.
