Is this Call of Duty?( relative mouse thingy)

First of all i don't want to hear about those mythical FA off pilots that are great in combat using a hotas and can beat a relative mouse using jokey. Elite Pvp turned into Call of Duty. Relative option has given mouse using people an edge over the hotas and there is no evasive flying against that. All they do is go FA off circle and fill you up with rails while taking advantage of the FPS mechanic. Small ships are useless as hitting with rails is a piece of cake. I fly a 595+ cobra mk3 with remote flechette . I pull and push and do all sorts of tricks. Nothing helps...not the speed, not the slim silhouette of the cobra, not my evasive manoeuvres. I even run drag munitions just to slow them down. Nothing helps. They just spin around and have 95 percent accuracy. I had a lot of fights with God meta FDLS and my cobra could take them one provided they flew using a hotas. It was not overpowered but felt more like fair fights. But there is no escape against relative mouse. I know i am going to get trashed by people using mouse or people claiming they win in pvp using a hotas vs a mouse, but am i the only one seeing this? I dont wanna give up my hotas to win. This is not a FPS. And people are pushing for a relative toggle....no words.

I think it's a fair trade off: Great at pvp vs Sweet controls.
I know I wouldn't go mouse+kb at any point. I'd play something else. I pvp in pubg, red orchestra 2, or something else. Elite is a different beast :)

Its not fair dude. I remember a time when this was not a problem. Now everybody is a damn aim bot. No way to evade. Its a GOD DAMN COBRA going 600 mps and they still hit me shot after shot. This game is so broken it breaks my heart.

Thats why i cant look at Steams or Videos when they use a Pad or Keyboard/Mouse Input,it looks just wrong.I can not take that seriously.

When i operate a "Sim" i use the "right" Tools,if not,it`s just another Arcade Game with less Value for me.

AFAIK most FA off PVP pilots indeed use a mouse. Which is another reason to me why I cant be bothered with it. Its far more about min/max, cheesing and such than, well, fun flying. :p

I know this might shock you, Sleutelbos, but I agree with you.

Its a FPS game now. I went to the CG and engaged in pvp. Got my butt kicked by every mouse player i faced. I asked after every fight. Small ships are useless this way. No way to avoid the point and click cancer.

Well i killed you today with my Fas at the cg, using my joystick... So... Yes its possible to hit you with a joystick 😀

Of course its possible. But at least i stand a chance. Also if i recall you rammed me out of desperation as your modules were half dead. I don't know if that was you. I am not saying Hotas should make me invincible i am saying mouse is to OP. Point and click with FA off

There's a whole lot of misconception in this thread.

Like being able to take on a FDL with a Cobra. Run the numbers on coriolis.io or edshipyard some time, there's a large gap - and everything you can do with Engineers just exponentially grows that gap.

Wanna throw off railguns? Use lateral thrust and rolling more. Relative mouse isn't magic.

Also, remote flechette launchers are bad weapons with 1 unique niche to deal with Thargoid Interceptor Thargon Swarms. Try different loadouts in a bigger ship.

All that said, PvP in Elite is just a bad idea in my view anyway. There's no semblance of balance, much of the fight is predetermined by what silly gimmick special effects you brought to it, and just...it's a really bad place to look for a fair fight, ever, in the current state of the game.

Too bad, I enjoy it, even if I lose sometimes. It's part of the game... Oh and I did not ram you, I just sniped your power plant till you went boom.

The aviation industry is missing out. They should replace all yokes on commercial airplanes with mouses (or mice, take your pick). We should put them in our cars too, the steering wheel is sooo old. And skateboards.

Well that works to. And if you really did that using the hotas then you full deserve that kill. I could have evaded you if i pushed harder but evading a mouse user is not happening. Anyway good kill :)

My gaming mouse doesn't support relative mouse movement. (G502) And I hadn't bothered with a joystick for years. So does this relative mouse thing allow aiming the ship like a windows desktop mouse's movement, superseding the ship's yaw and pitch limitations? If so, it sounds like an "exploit" and should be nerfed somehow.

I think you are wrong. Today i explored the flechette build and it works when there is a level play field. That mean when both people use hotas. Of course FDL is superior to a cobra but the thin profile combined with the speed makes it hard to hit when using a hotas. But then again if you get hit then its over and that seems fair. That is not an option fighting against mouse. 95 percent accuracy. There is no place you can hide, and no trick you can pull to beat the point and click. This has become one of those weird point and click games i never understood. All high level players use mouse and kb because of the relative option. I tried myself and i was blown away of how easy it is but i refuse to use it.

No, that isn't it. And any mouse supports relative mouse movement, its in the game settings.

It tries to simulate the return to center of the Flight stick. At least in theory. Turns out that in FA off its "Aim Bot I will unload all my rails in your butt'' good. Kind of makes me sad. I used to love pvp.
